Thank you Howard for sharing this. He was part of Doris' life and for all of us keeping track what is happening around her it's somehow good to be able to know recent news in every way.

Thanks Howard for letting us know about this.

Sad news for although their marriage did not work out, Doris obviously loved Barry and had some happy times with him. It is bound to bring back many many memories for Doris, sad and sweet.

That's sad, I was just wondering about him the other day after reading about him. He the only husband of her's that im confused about in a way. I found the obituary a little harsh , I thought it could have been a little nicer. I'm sure Doris is a little sad.

Thank you for sharing Howard. Sad news. He died fairly young too, 74 isn't all that old.

That's really too bad. He died fairly young. I don't really know much about DoDo's marriage to him, except that he divorced her because she loved her animals more than him. I thought the obituary was a bit harsh also. "His quick wit will be sorely missed by most, but definitely not by all." That's not very nice to say about someone after they have passed... :?

Yes, I too thought the obituary was a bit harsh. I wonder if his son Danny wrote it ? (usually here in the states family members at least have some imput about what is written ). If I am not mistaken, his son Danny is an actor and I must say has his dads good looks.

Doris and Barry made a handsome couple back in 1976 during her book tour. How did Doris meet so many supposed mean men and marry them??? She should have married Rock Hudson!! He was a kind man and they got along great!!!

But Rock Hudson was gay,
So Doris couldn't have married him!

Rock was gay but sometimes a relationship is more than sex! Rock kept his secret untill months before he died. Too bad he had to hide who he was all those years!

Doris and Rock were best friends and you don't normally marry your best friends, Ray, do you? :)
You probably wouldn't remain best friends for long! Plus Rock was still hanging out with the boys.

Oh, my it seems mr.Comden was the same age as me.....Its always a little bit scarry when people who seemed healthy enough and are also your same age die. I must say what a way to go though, watching the Lakers in bed. Not a bad way to go. My condolances to his family. BILL

People do need to marry their best friends. After the hot passionate romance fades you need to know you can still rely on your best friend to always be there. :)

To resolve this, I think if you haven't seen to go watch The Mirror Has Two Faces. It's the basis of the whole movie what you guys are talking about when it comes to relationships.

How to handle my husband who acts like a child? I have a wonderful husband, he is a great father and a great provider. He is my best friend, but he acts like a child, he is loud and and obnoxious, he gets along very well with our 7 and 12 year old sons they get each others jokes. My problem is that because my husband acts like this 90% of the time it is hard to for me to switch over in to wife mode its hard for me. I am not an uptight person, I love jokes and the fact that my husband is playful just sometimes I need a husband not another son. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Gladysia, Sounds like your hubby had the movie "Mrs. Doubtfire " named after him lol. What attacted you to your hubby when you first met him ? Better a fun loving man than a grumpy one lol.

This is a bit off topic, Gladysia, but have you thought of D-I-V-O-R-C-E?

Someone like that would drive me mad and he's abdicating responsibly as a parent - nice for him but tough on you and the kids - and what message are they getting about being a male adult?
I think you should arrange to get marriage guidance counselling and try to impress on him that the kids need a father, not a friend, and you need a partner not another adolescent.

He needs some Tough Love to help him change. I'm sure he has a heart of gold but he needs to GROW UP!

The above sounds a bit harsh - especially the divorce comment, obviously not the first option with children involved. But I personally suffered a lot through the wrong kind of parenting - not intentional, as in your case, but it had consequences that I could have done without. Hope you work it out.

Thank you, Suzie, that means a lot. And I'm okay now! I suppose if you didn't have to work through the problems that life presents you with, you wouldn't be able to sympathise/empathise with other people's problems, would you?

But that was how I became a DD fan, she was a great comfort to me as a lonely child and the website and forum are my way of saying 'thank you'.

We've all got our own stories, haven't we?
