Howard- I posted under "casting the d day story" before seeing the pics of Doris with June- however, it does not change my view at all- note the difference in height- June was tiny- like so many great stars (Lana Turner; Bette Davis; Liz Taylor) etc etc - but our girl had a model's height and I love that!

You're right about the physical characteristics, but in watching "The Glen Miller Story" I couldn't help but make some comparisons. Her acting in it was perfectly natural, and she had a winning, wholesome charm that came through all the way. About singing ... I would be very disappointed if they ever made a film based on DD's life, and didn't use our gal's voice. I want an actress who CAN'T sing!

Like the pictures of Doris from the forties with no makeup and long blonde hair! You could tell she was a winner then and go on to be an all time favorite! Her music and songs will even touch this generation as an example of great singing and pure magic in her heart and soul. I first fell in Love with Doris hearing her sing on my old stero with the big albums. I was listening to her sing Singing in the Rain and I was hooked for a lifetime. I have Loved Doris more than most people I have known!LOL And longer!

I was always taught that cigarettes destroy the voice. That cigarettes are very harmful to the voice. Doris to burn cigarette and has a beautiful voice. I read somewhere that up to two packs a day...
