I just saw this movie today... and loved every minute of it.. I didn't want it to ever end..

did anyone notice in the drag act.. that the "girl" Francias dropped "her" black scarf, and then in the next shot, he had it again... you can tell they put two different shots together...

or maybe it's only me???

any way.. this movie is now close to the top of my list

Calamity Jane is one of the super best movies of Miss Day, even I saw it for several times, it's never boring, the songs are beautiful, and Miss Day acting is more than marvellous. I never could understand why she did't got a oscar for her acting in that movie, they were really blind in Hollywood at that time.

Did anyone else notice that Doris's six shooter had seven shots? I always thought that this was probably someone's idea of movie making humor.

Just watched the movie last night with my neighbour - A first time for her and she loved it. :)

Calam is drinking around the bar and finds out Danny has been captured by an Indian, so she goes off to rescue him. It is about 12 minutes into the film. 8)

I like watching this because it is clear Doris Day is in great shape. Her ease in jumping up on the bar is so great.

I'm not a big fan of Howard Keel. (just the voice type and all that) but I think the movie works.

I was always wondering - Did Doris do the riding herself (escpecially the hopping on the horese and pursuit of the coach) or was it a double?

The jump on the coach in full speed probably was a double, but the rest?

(Do you use "double" for a stuntman/woman?)

One of the things I love about this movie is , that I can show it to my sisters children and they love it like I do.I guess the word im trying to come up with is timeless... What I loved as a child these kids love too.Calamity worked all the way for me, doris was great as always (I too wondered if she did most of her own stunts .) and cast and crew did a wonderful job. The photos of the behind the scenes are really nice, wow there is alot of people on a set, it looked down right crowded lol.

OKAY this movie is sensational to me - the more I watch it the more I like it.
Before I watched it I've seen a couple of scenes on youtube and thought - "Oh no - no movie for me at ALL" didn't like what I saw.(I know weird me - ) I postponed watching it ... then finally first time I was rather surprised that it wasn't at all as bad as I had feared ... quite on the contrary - I kinda liked it time thinking its OKAY - nice - but not really THAT great as all you guys seem to think ... but then I got talking about it ... and rewatching it .... listening to the songs again - rewatching it - and now I really really LIKE it. Its definitely FUN to see Doris in that movie. If I keep watching it I probably very soon am going to absolutely LOVE it *lol*. Actually I'm listening I CAN DO WITHOUT YOU as I write .... fun.
I think I'll watch it again tonight

Bryan, Anke and I just have a very special relationship :D

Sunday we spent 6 hrs on the phone having a DD orgy - We watched Teacher's Pet, an interview, parts of CJ, YMWAH etc. etc.

It's fun! (And everybody is complaining that my phone is always busy...)

RIGHT!!! *lol* - and we're even getting better and better with fast forwarding the no-Doris-scenes and then starting back on together when she appears again

But Bryan you can join in ANYTIME you want I'm pretty sure I can do a three-way-conversation on my phone .. so anytime you want to make a "Doris-orgy" just call

We, Doris Fans, have to realize that she was COMPLETELY IGNORED as far as ACADEMY AWARDS and GRAMMYS were concerned. Whoever the insanely jealous people were who got to vote made sure of that.
REASON: (now listen up).....THERE IS NO ONE WHO CAN COMPARE TO DORIS DAY...NOT THEN...NOT NOW...NOT IN THE FUTURE. She is ONE OF A KIND. They can do all the remakes they want (and there is talk of remaking this movie), NO ONE WILL COME CLOSE to DDay's performance, because no one is that good. SHE SET THE MARK...and no one can break it.

Hey Mike - don't get too excited your soap box might break - anyway, you are preaching to the converted.
