The movie and the two stars all deserved an Oscar; no film or stars were even close that year although the bean heads in Hollywood managed to choose them and totally ignore Doris' MAGNIFICENT performance...

It's my very favorite movie that she made! She deserved an Academy Award for that film! I hope she gets one for Lifetime Achievement soon.

In my opinion this is Doris' greatest movie. She sings, dances and acts just like the great actors of all time. Both with James Cagney deserve an Oscar. All actors are perfect under King Vidor's direktion. After this film real Ruth Etting became known. I didn't hear for her before.
I rank it EXCELLENT PLUS. I'll never stop loving it.

I'm agree with you Nada, that's way I did made this image, both actors played perfect. And the movie is one of the greatest ( to my opinion) and she did a great job, she sings, dance, and played a perfect dramatic role.
I never understand why she and James didn't got a oscar for this movie.

Re: re-makes- on other threads, most recently under Glass Bottom Boat-

I agree most classics should be left alone - however, I've thought of an interesting re-make for Love me... what about a film about the making of the film and the [scary] similarities in Doris' life to that of Ruth Etting?

Thoughts?

It's a fun video, but it's definitely not Michael Buble.

I think this is a great version of LMOLM. Took some digging but this is what I came up with:

Artist: The Jive Aces
Buy: "Love Me or Leave Me (Feat. Mark Isham)" on: Android Market

Apparently Mark Isham is the featured singer. If true, he's great at Jazz as well as scatting.

Watched LMOLM again and never tire of it! The film dealt with so much for it's time including divorce. Doris was sizzeling in Shakin the Blues Away number. A.E. Hotchner wrote when he met Doris he didn't expect her to be so sexy looking and I felt the same way when I met her in 1987. Doris is naturally sexy and not in your face vulgar. How Doris was overlooked for an Oscar for this movie is baffleing. Marty the gimp said at the close of the movie, " the girl can sing, about that I never was wrong". Doris was on her way to become number one female at the box office, better than an Oscar in many ways.

"Love me or leave me" is the favourite movie of my mother, she has seen it in 1955, the Netherlands.
I want to help my mother to try found "Love me or leave me" but with Dutch subtitles, because she don't understand Englisch. My Englisch (Iam also Dutch) is, I hope, just enough for the understanding.
So my question is: is there somebody here who can help me (adress compagny?) to buy the movie?
Whith Dutch subtitles.

Thanks a lot.
The Dutchman from Rotterdam. :D

Do most DVDs now not provide the option of choosing the language? This would be within the menu of the DVD.

Hope this assists?

Jas1 and Webmaster, thanks a lot for the help.
The problem is that Amazon.uk don't send it to the Netherlands, only in the UK.
But, there is a good hope for me, because the manager of that web shop give me good advice that its possible to send it by registered mail to the Netherlands!
Because of this DORIS DAY FORUM, Thank you internet.
I keep this Doris Day forum in my favourites, because I love it.
Reading Englisch is not the problem, only writing. :o
