There are so many tension building scenes in Midnight Lace starting with Doris walking through the London fog right through to the end where she is walking along the high constuction beams near the end. Everyone in the audience is having an aniety attack because they love Doris' character and fear for her.

Just brilliant!

Thanks Nicki

Here's an interesting one I came across marked 'on the set of Midnight Lace':

I don't recognise the scene though, do you?

It looks more like "Lover, Come Back." I think it was mislabeled somehow.

The photo has a dark feel about it though, doesn't it? Even Doris looks worried. :(

Thanks for sharing these photos--I had never seen most of them, so it was definitely a treat!! :)

Doris does look very worried in that last photo! If indeed it is from "Midnight Lace", maybe the stress and anxiety that Doris felt while making that movie, are showing up in her face in the photo. Just a thought....

I know this is slightly off the subject, but I've often wished that the "powers-that-be" at Madame Tussaud's would immortalize our Doris in a wax figure. She is just so beautiful--and I can think of no one else who has made such contributions to our culture of music and cinema (not to mention her work for the animals)??!! Can you imagine how beautiful THAT wax figure would be???!!! :D

Anyhow, I'll stop rambling now!! LOL
Hope you all are having a lovely "Day"! :D

I was thinking how great it would be to have a wax figure of Doris last year when I was visiting London. I was surprised to learn that there is no wax figure of Doris in the London wax museum since Doris is so popular in London and the wax museum is so huge, but no Doris wax figure! :(

The last pic above is definately from Lover come Back - the restaurant scene where Carol first dines (not wines) Jerry.

Unfortunately, we will probably never see a wax figure of our Doris :(
I think the person (subject) has to give permission for Madame Tussaud's to do the work, and I have a feeling that Doris would not agree to it. Too bad, really--because it would be perfectly stunning, and so well-deserved!!!! Maybe if they would offer to do a wax figure of Doris with one of her beloved four-leggers, she would do it (just a thought--LOL)!! :)
Hope you all are having a lovely "Day"!! :)

There was a wax figure of Doris and Rock at the 1964 World's Fair in New York - somewhere I have a photo of it....it was pretty good. No idea where it would be now, but I saw it and took a photo - it was life size and she was wearing a long gold gown.

Mary Anne~
You gave the photo to me 30 or 40 years ago and I have it. I'm looking at it right now. Unfortunately, Doris' head is tilted down. I don't care for the likeness at all. There is a man with her who is supposed to be Rock Hudson, or so the sign says. If I can scan it, I'll upload it to the forum.

Wow, thanks for posting that! It's pretty cool that they tried--but the likenesses aren't very good. :)
It does appear to be the same gown, though, doesn't it?

Anyhow, thanks again--it was very nice of you to post the photo!! :)

Have a lovely "Day"!! :)

I really love this film, it's not the typical Doris Day film you would go see. It's dark, chilling, and a bit creepy at times. Which is precisely why I love it. It's so out of the norm of what Doris did, as was Julie and even Young Man With A Horn or Love Me Or Leave Me. All were so great because they were so different.

The dress the waxwork is wearing looks like a replica of the gown from Thrill of It All.

Great to see this, thanks Lauren for posting.

If you search the internet you should be able to find it - I bought a 'Region-free' version online a year or so ago.

I just did a search and found one for $12.99 here and it says Format: DVD Region ALL:

Esta pelicula estuvo en los cines aqui en España en 1960 con mucho exito, aparte de sus muchos pases por TVE, sa lanzo en DVD hace algunos años, con muy buena calidad, pelicula de suspense en la que Doris Day dijo que nunca mas volveria hacer una pelicula de terror, ya que lo paso bastante mal, aqui os pongo los posters en español y el del DVD, aqui se llamo Un grito en la Niebla.
