The first one is in the back yard of the North Crescent Drive home and is, I believe, the mid 70's. The second was taken by Sydney Wood - in Carmel in the latter 80's if I recall.

Doris laughs as she tries to pronounce Russian words during a short chat with women’s world record holder in the shot put, Tamara Press of Russia. Tamara holds Doris’ pet poodle, Muffy

The photo above where DD is holding the grey dog with a lamp to the right was taken in Carmel at someone's home. This was when a fan named April presented Doris with a quilt she made with dog patches on it. Some of the dogs resembled Doris' own dogs.

If someone knows were it was taken, could you share? I have a photo of the quilt that I would be happy to share if I can find it.

The dog, who looks to be smiling is Bucky, who probably got his name from his bottom teeth which protruded out beyond his top teeth.

Folks~

With regard to the photo of the Doris with the dog with the teeth sticking out - that may be Edie Gorme in the middle of the photo and to the right at the top is Doris' best friend, Rachie Rael, who Doris met through her animal work. Rachie played a prominent part in Doris' life previous to her meeting Barry Comden and even after Doris moved to Carmel. She is mentioned in Doris' book also.

Hi Lauren! The dog with the teeth sticking out I believe is Benji! From Petticoat Junction fame and the Benji films! I love this kind of dog, a terrier mix, hard to find now!
Thanks for sharing the peoples names in the pic.

Toby~
Thanks for the correction. I actually thought to myself after looking at that dog again that I was mistaken about being "Bucky." The dog in the photo and Bucky have the same orthodontic problem, but I think you are correct on the dog being Benji.
