For me there's a kind of 'where can I take this Doris thing'? Do we have much more to say or share about her? It sort of feels we've covered everything. Or maybe that's just a temporary feeling that will pass - I haven't felt it before.

I was watching the Queen on the river for her Diamond Jubilee yesterday and found myself saying "Her hats are amazing - a bit like the hats Doris Day used to wear!" Slight exaggeration but some truth in it.

Bryan,

Completely understand and commiserate. I often feel I have nothing new or interesting to offer, but then I come across a thought provoking comment from another board member and my enthusiasm is renewed again. That is one of the joys of a virtual community like this: we can pop-in for a visit without feeling we have anything to say, read a post that we relate to and add something to it. I think the occasional lulls are understandable and nothing to fret about. Just when we think there is nothing new on the Doris horizon, she surprises us with new CD compilations, print interviews and periodic updates on her website. So I am relieved you still want to continue providing this service to the fans. Quite often, when I am having an off day, I come here and I always get a lift from it. Maybe you don't realize how much we appreciate what you do. So, just for the record, thank you for providing a respectful place for the fans to share our thoughts about all things Doris.

Cheers,
Michael

That goes double for me. I visit quite regularly, and it always helps to brighten my day. This is a wonderful web site, a great source of information for those interested to learn about DD's remarkable career(s), and it would leave me with an empty feeling if it were ever gone. I know we DD fans appreciate all the hard work you have put, and continue to put into it. Can't say THANK YOU enough!

Well I don't do it for the thanks (otherwise I would have given up long ago, ) It's not about me, it's about Doris. I think we all worry about her a bit - even, or especially, when she seems 'far away'. One of her devoted fans just sent me a concerned email about a rumour that she is being controlled by the people around her. If there is any truth in it, she wouldn't be the first retired star for that to happen to but personally I doubt it.
All indications are that she is in charge and sharp as a tack. Yes, she has a lot of helpers (no idea who they are) but she's at an age where she needs that. That's my take on it anyway - I could be wrong, it has been know to happen. :) Maybe somebody knows something we don't know? If not we can put it down to the rumour mill/conspiracy-theory factor.

Thank you all for being loyal fans - and thank you, Michael, for your comments especially, which put things into perspective for me.

Now that this issue is explained a little more,I doubt it very much that Doris would be controlled in a severe manner. She just has done so much lately, all the interviews and phonecalls because of her cd's,that it might seem a little quite now.We somehow always come up with thoughts are never seen photographs to share, youtubevideo's,writing letters to her loyal fans.In a matter of speaking she always seemed far away, but we,devoted people, always are with her daily, in our thoughts, through her movie's and songs and the forum.Yes,there would be quite a gap if there were no more forum!
As we journey under our individual umbrella's,we should not forget we all share the same sky.Doris Day

Well, I don't pretend to have any insider information but from what I do know, Doris seems to have a very capable staff around her. They have helped create her website which has given her a way to communicate directly with the fans whenever she wants. They're also helping with the correspondence and all of her recent letters have been printed using what appears to be Microsoft Word. So she and her team are definitely keeping pace with the times or so it seems. Another positive sign was her recent appearance on her deck when she spoke to the fans below via cell phone. All of this tells me she is alert, healthy and in a good place.

Of course, nobody except those directly involved know what goes on in her home, but from what I hear, she has a very responsible group of people reporting to her. My only wish is that she still had Terry to look after her interests because older, wealthy people are always vulnerable to some degree.

Bryan,
The work you've done on Doris' behalf has brought so much joy to so many people! Words can't express the gratitude that all of us feel. Doris - and what she stands for - inspires each of us every day. I encourage you to stay involved in the "magic" that the Universe has brought us through Doris. I agree with Michael that there is much more to come and more joy to share.
Cheers,
Lloyd

Have the storyline and title for that Doris and Angela lansbury Murder She Wrote. Whatever Happened To Baby Clara? Angela finds her long lost sister living in Carmel Valley where a string of murders are takeing place and the local pet sitter is a prime suspect. Doris and Angela solve the mystery that were comitted by a low profile bookie from Rhode island. The gals do a duet at the end singing the song Sister's, from the movie Holiday Inn that Rosemary Clooney and Mitzi Gaynor sang. TV movie would make a mint for the amimals

Come on people have a sense of humor!!! Doris does!!! Rewatched the fifth season of The Doris Day Show and it was really very good. Many shows were bright and witty. Don't mean to be critical but that ineterview with Doris on her favorite shows was terrible. The people in charge of the recent phone interviews had Doris perky and talkative. On the fifth season thing seemed like they were sleeping through it. Also the misinformation that the children were away so Doris could have romantic interests was confusing and wrong for the four and fifth season. Que Sera.... Doris was classy and sexy in the modeling shots.

Keeping track of Doris is a lot like watching the production and performance of the dance of 7 veils. We never know exactly what is coming up. I was wondering about vocal imitation and how that is considered in the biz. There have been performers that have completely changed the manner in which they sing because of objections. Kenny Rogers had an ambitious background singer, and Kenny let him go saying "I know you can sing, but can you sing?" In other cases, imitation is considered a sort of flattery, as in the case of Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand.

One cannot exactly copyright a voice. I bring the issue up because there is a commercial for TRUVIA in which a female singer is singing "Twinkle, Twinkle little Star, and her voice is almost exactly like Doris's. A good choice of voice, quite likely accidental.
"As long as its show business, I'm happy." One of these days, I am going to quit smoking these things.
