Re: US protests

I understand the frustration of these protestors, but this kind of behavior never makes things better - only worse. These are dangerous times, and these rebels are not practicing social distancing, many are not wearing masks, and the only ones who suffer are the innocent owners of establishments tha...

Re: News, Events and Comment

Here's a recent article taken from Jazz Times: Doris Day: Her Jazziest Moment Remembering a singer with the voice of a friend There are certain singers we might consider ’tweeners, occupying some liminal space between jazz and pop. Judy Garland is one of these, though I’ve always heard the commandin...

Thanks so much for posting. I took it as a compliment ... P.S. Cate Blanchett is one of the very best actresses working in film today. She's pretty amazing!

Re: Please Don't Eat the Daisies

Originally, MGM bought the property with Doris Day in mind to star. However, after "Billy Rose's Jumbo" didn't fare well at the box office, they decided to look elsewhere for a star. Debbie was a good choice - she did well - even got an Academy Award nomination.

Re: Chatting about Doris...

Just discovered this quote from the great Angela Lansbury: "Extremely sad news. Doris Day was an extraordinary talent & even greater human being, who devoted her life to helping others, especially those, who have no voice of their own. One of the biggest stars ever, yet so unaffected & down-to-earth...

Re: Forum Banners 2019

Bryan: A number of years ago I emailed Jim Pierson (MPI Video), an authority on everything Doris, and asked about "The Pajama Game" not being televised. Here was his reply verbatim: "WB only have HOME VIDEO rights. Although they "own" the film, Warners made an unfortunate deal on Pajama Game and Dam...

Re: Poll: Doris Would Have Been Better

Thanks, Johnny. Looking over the list of film possibilities, "South Pacific" is my number one choice, by far. Doris as Nellie Forbush would have been one for the ages. She was born to play that role ... Can you imagine Doris with her infectious, exuberant personality, in addition to her dancing skil...

As far as I know, Johnny, Doris never recorded "Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair."
PS: I see you've eliminated "Wash That Man" from your original post.

Peter - thanks so much for posting so many wonderful, rare photos. I've seen the first photo at the Academy Awards rehearsal, and was always so disappointed in that her back was turned to the camera. But the other two - a rare treat! Thanks again!
