Re: Forum Banner

I read that Johnny Ray covered it in 1954. Could it be that it is on the single with Hernando's Hideaway?
I'm not certain about that.

Re: Forum Banner

Love the new banner!
Doris does a similar pose in some of her other movies and in the special with Perry, too.
It makes me smile everytime I see that gesture in her films :)

Wow, your new website is already great! It's easy to see, that you did it with much love. I like the idea of the quotes and the "Behind the scenes" stories, too. You've really got a talent to choose the right pictures and stories to make it an interesting and special website! Some classics that came...

Re: Julie Andrews

Thank you for the information about how Julie started her career, TCM. I'm sorry if you got the impression that I think she is a bad singer or so. I definitely don't think so! I was just imagine about how the movie would have been with Doris as Maria. But maybe Doris would not have fit in that role?...

Re: Julie Andrews

I love that movie! Unfortunately in Germany they dubb the singing in her movies, too. Isn't that stupid? They never did that with Doris' singing here. At the age of 74 Julie still looks juvenescent. Incredible! The movie is enable for kids age 6 or older here, but I have to admit, that I found the e...

Re: Forum Banner

I'm thrilled about the new banner, too. In its simplicity it is very expressive.
Doris always knew how the expression in her face and her body posture must be like. But it also looked natural, which makes her a truly good actress.
Great artwork again, Bryan. Lisa

Re: IF IM LUCKY - Perry Como Movie !

Hi TCM, I'm fine. Thanks. How are you? I found the Carmen Miranda Collection, but unfortunately the DVD is only available with region code 1, so it would not work on my DVD player. I hope it will also be released in the code I need. The only album I could find on the internet is "Perry Como in Italy...

Re: Move Over Darling

I just watched MOD for the first time and needless to say I really enjoyed it! Actually I'm not that much for remakes, and although the story is predictable it's always a great fun to watch Doris, Thelma and James! No wonder that Thelma was the one, who got the most Academy Award nominations for Bes...

Re: IF IM LUCKY - Perry Como Movie !

I also enjoy Perry's singing, TCM! So far I did not even know that Perry made some movies, too. I knew about his Television shows, but unfortunately I haven't seen them yet. Are they released on DVD? Do you have a favourite Mr. C song, TCM? I love him singing "A Garden In The Rain". Fortunately, I d...

Re: DD Co-Star in LULLABY OF B'WAY - Question !

Anne Triola played the maid Gloria Davis. I could not find much about her, too.
She had a few very small roles I think, e.g she played a waitress in "Sleep, My Love".
I could only find 5 movies she made. Maybe someone else knows more about her. Lisa

Re: The most sexy song Doris ever sang ?

My choices would be:
Quiet Nights Of Quiet Stars
Fly Me To The Moon
Stars fell On Alabama
Close Your Eyes
Let It Ring
I Had the Craziest Dream...
but I agree with all of your choices.
And it's hard to make a selection, because she sang so many sexy songs.

Thank you for letting us know about his plans.
I wrote him directly and I hope he won't change a thing that affects Doris' music.
I was so glad when I finally found a radio station, that features her music that I would be sad to lose it now.
I tune in as often as I can. Lisa

Re: Vocal Problems !

Some of the other tunes she was given to sing were not very memorable tunes. I don't think they were well-written for her voice but I guess that was the best material that could be provided to her at that time.. I thought most of the songs she sang on "Best Friends" were cover versions, such as e.g...
