Re: Where Were You When the Lights Went Out?
Thanks again for the link! I watched the movie. Hmm... Doris is excellent as always. But the plot... it's objectionable. And Terry-Thomas' character is downright disgusting. Patrick O'Neall's isn't much better. The film had some good comedy though.

Re: What a Difference a Day made - The "ARTE" Documentary
Saw this yesterday on a Finnish tv channel YleTeema. It was interesting but too short! 50 minutes isn't long enough when talking about Doris Day.

Re: Casting - The Doris Day Story
I can't think of any contemporary actress who would do justice to Doris. I propably wouldn't like it no matter who they cast. There are just some people who are larger than life and should not be imitated, for examle The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000) was horrible, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Audrey, I don...

I totally forgot to mention my childhood favourites, stars of the golden age of Finnish cinema (not stars to you guys since they are not known outside of Finland.)

Jane Fonda is one of my all time favourites, absolutely love her. Another one of my faves is Hayley Mills. And then Veronica Lake was excellent in Sullivan's Travels, as was Gene Tierney in Laura.

Re: Teacher's Pet
I watched this a couple of days ago. I can't help it but this Day - Gable thing feels awkward. Gable was just too, how should I put this... old. Sorry Clark to diss you like this on your birthday and all.

Re: Favorite non-Doris movie
I never really got into Buffy but I did meet Anthony Head who co-starred and he is a delightful, unassuming gentleman. Oh, it would be great to meet ASH. I did meet my favourite Buffy stars Danny Strong and Tom Lenk in a Buffy convention a couple of years ago. Really polite and charming guys, both ...

Re: Teacher's Pet
I haven't seen this one yet although the dvd waits on my bookshelf. Doris Day - Clark Gable pairing seems odd but I'll have to see if the pairing works better than I imagine.

Re: Julie
One of my faves. I guess I like it so much because I felt that the movie was sort of a social commentary about spousal abuse and as someone said earlier in this thread, it is still a huge problem, not much has changed. Of course, Doris was remarkable in this film.

Hello there!
I registered to this forum ages ago but never wrote anything until now. I'm a librarian pushing 30 from Finland. I've loved Doris ever since I was a young girl and saw Lullaby of Broadway on tv. It is still one of my favourite Doris Day films, other favourites include Julie and Pillow Talk. I wrote ...
