Re: Sad News
With all due respect, a sentence such as this would be enough to scare anyone away from offering their help (which may explain the recent sudden silence on this forum) : Being the webmaster for the forum demands an incredible amount of work and technical skills. Surely, it can't be all that impossib...

Re: Sad News
Indeed, this is sad news. Thank you, Michael, for finding out. I had not been in contact with Bryan for a very long time, but he was always helpful and friendly. I am glad he decided to keep the forum going, even after the passing of Doris. Hopefully, it will keep going even now. Thinking about the ...

Re: 2020 Doris Day photos
Hi Johnny, Thank you so much for your nice reply. Just mailed BBC archive to find out more about Doris Day's radio show. It is possible that the BBC Doris Day radio show already started in 1954. I found it mentioned on one of the fanclub magazines from the 70's Doris Day Society. So I hope it leads...

Many thanks, Peter!
Quite enjoyable! Of course, Doris sings well as always, but I also think that Buddy Clark was a very fine singer.
Thanks again!

Peter,
Many thanks for your updated list! It's a great piece of work!
I would love to hear this 'new' version of "Again", if that is possible!

Re: Forum Banners 2019-2020
The lyrics to this Calamity Jane-era recording by Doris came to mind ... and I was surprised to actually not being able to find them anywhere on the Internet! THIS TOO SHALL PASS AWAY (Ervin Drake; Irvin Graham; Jimmy Shirl) Recorded by Doris Day on July 17, 1953 The stormy clouds that hide the sun ...

Re: Music critic Will Friedwald on Doris Day.
Here's a chuckle -- another gem from Friedwald, this about Bing Crosby's recording of "Tell Me Why," which Doris sang in "On Moonlight Bay": Bing tried to "out-poignant" her rendition. A fascinating piece of information! I'm no expert of the recordings of Bing Crosby, so I had no idea that he had r...

Re: Doris Day on Live Radio Shows 40's/50's
Thanks Peter, for this very interesting listing of the UK radio broadcasts! Previously, I thought the original shows were broadcast in their entirety, but now it's clear that they also included newer recordings, so the UK series was decidedly different from the US series. Fascinating! Yeah, hopefull...

Re: Forum Banners 2019
Hi Robert, Thanks for pointing out the David Hartman interview! I hadn't seen it before, but now I've watched all four parts. Very fascinating to hear their conversation, and I think Mr. Hartman asks questions, the answers of which are very interesting to hear, but not everyone would be comfortable ...

Re: Chatting about Doris...
Just started watching on TCM the 1954 film noir Crime Wave which opened with a gas station being robbed while Doris Day is singing S' Wonderful. The gas station attendant is joyfully talking about Doris Day singing this song until the robbers hit him over the head. Another surprise in this film is ...

Re: Lullaby of Broadway
Thanks, Bryan, for the reply!
Well, like I said, I never saw "Fine and Dandy" performed in the film, but sometimes there are deleted scenes, that later show up on DVDs and such. But, of course, nothing can show up, if it was never recorded in the first place.

Re: Lullaby of Broadway
Is it known if "Fine and Dandy", a song featured on the Columbia album referring to this film, was also recorded for inclusion in the film? If so, is it known what happened to that performance, as I can't seem to find it when watching the film?

Re: The Complete Recordings of Doris Day
JayWint, many thanks for your thoughts on this! It makes sense of course, that a different mixing (be it mono, stereo, or some other way) would make for a different listening experience. Although I guess for me, Doris' voice has always been in my center of attention anyway. :D But I do see your poin...

New Les Brown CD slated for release in March!
Just wanted to point those interested to this forthcoming Les Brown CD, planned for March 20, 2020 on the "Sounds of Yesteryear" label: https://www.amazon.com/Featuring-Doris-Brown-Band-Renown/dp/B083N39QT6/ref=sr_1_37 The listing above claims dates as January 15, 1945 and July 24, 1945, but judging...

With the last update as of today, this posting has reached a milestone, because as far as I know, the listing now compiles every issued recording by Doris Day. :D I would like to add, to this listing, also the rather vast number of unissued recordings, but that will take a longer time to do. In the ...

Re: The Complete Recordings of Doris Day
I have another question myself. Hopefully someone has an opinion! In 2018, the label SFE "Strike Force Entertainment", a sub-label to Cherry Red Records, issued a 3-disc edition of "Latin for Lovers". Details here: https://www.discogs.com/Doris-Day-Latin-For-Lovers/release/12813943. The first disc i...

Re: The Complete Recordings of Doris Day
Michael, thanks for your kind words and cheering-ons! :D --- Judy, many thanks again, for your research and thoughts! Re: The Complete Recordings of Doris Day
Hi there Helena, Welcome to the forum! Yes, even the earlier recordings made by Doris are worthwhile, in my opinion. That goes for everything she did ... Some might think that melodies are simple, lyrics are silly or arrangements are bad, but I don't recall ever hearing anyone stating that Doris wou...
