Re: The Academy Awards...

I think Slumdog is overrated too, the kids were good but the other actors were ordinary.
KW was v good in The Reader and definitely deserved hers.

I prefer his earlier stuff.
Saw him in concert a few years ago - quite a performer!

Re: The Thrill of it All

Being a "doctor's wife" is NOT a career.
I can't imagine any self-respecting female condoning the hubby's attitude.

(I know one lady paediatrician who is married to a "house husband" )

The Thrill of it All

My major detraction from enjoying this film in spite of DD's talent for comedy is the "being a doctor's wife" thing! Very dated even for the 60's. More than 50% of medical students in the UK are women. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2002/jul/04/medicalscience.nhs http://student.bmj.com/issues/04/10/ne...

Re: Politics

Why do "developed" countries become anxious when others develop nuclear capabilities (or even demonstrate economic growth)?

The US and the UK have not shown us that they use their advanced military facilities responsibly (Iraq).

Please stop thinking in those "God bless America" ways ... God needs to bless the whole world! True in a way but I don't think that any god could take us out of that mess we're in. There's a reason why this so-called god of yours put people on this planet so they can in live in peace and harmony. T...

I love Monet too - don't much care for surrealism - interesting but I wouldn't want to see it every day.
My other favourite is Van Gogh - so "tortured" - i could stare at his paintings all day.
