Re: Doris Day Photos started 20 Aug 2009

Ray, I haven't read the book...a friend of mine who is an Ann Murray fan sent me the scanned photo. But I think I'll be ordering the book just to hear what she had to say and how she was so close to Doris. I also love Ann's voice -- it too is so pure and clear. I would think that Doris is a fan of ...

That's neat Mikey. Are you going to be able to go? Mary Anne's talks are awesome and she has so many great photos to share.

Re: Debbie Reynolds Live!

I think Doris could do it now -- at 86! Maybe bring a few dogs onstage to dance with her, donate proceeds to her animal fund. OK, I'm delusional from all that Thanksgiving turkey! Glad you had such a great time Mary Anne! I met Debbie many, many years ago and she was delightful then too. Rita

I wasn't arguing, I was making a valid comment about the show. But I knew I'd get jumped about it, like I usually am.

Re: cbs news sunday morning - possible DD segment

It was a wonderful segment, about 12 minutes long and filled with film clips showing Doris. There was very little about the author or the book. Any publicity about the book that's on TV is obviously going to include Doris's career moments and photos. So even if you don't like / won't read the book, ...

Re: My interview with David Kaufman

Excellent job, Dominique! You asked some very good questions that Doris fans would appreciate. I've interviewed many authors over the years and it's always a challenge to ask questions that you think no one else has, or to get quotes that haven't appeared in other interviews. I think you accomplishe...

Wowza, Bryan! A bouquet of daisies -- make that TWO bouquets -- for the great "save" job! The forum looks better than ever!

How do I get an avatar? And why does that sound like something out of a medieval war battle?

[quote="John M"]Bryan, that is a very fair point about Doris writing her own book to prove the public image of her life was far from reality. Doris's age

I have read part of DK's book and find him to be a very evenhanded writer who doesn't overdramatize and who has obviously done meticulous fact-checking and interviewing. I don't feel what I have read so far is "shocking" but I'm sure other fans will disagree. There are lots of nice photos. I'd defin...

Donations ..... are checks cashed?

One reason why I've hesitated to contribute to the DDAL is that I have heard some of the checks have not been cashed, which I find disconcerting for such a well-known organization.
