Peter Graves
Just read that Peter Graves passed away this morning in LA. Apparently, had a heart attack after returning home from brunch with wife, children and grandchildren. Always thought that he and Doris made a good looking couple in "Ballad of Josie". RIP, Mr. Graves.

Re: Casting - The Doris Day Story
Doris' speaking voice is her one characteristic that could not be copied by anyone. That throaty, cheerful, and clearly enunciated sound is hers alone. Therefore, to me, it would be difficult to suspend belief and think that any actress was doing a credible job as Doris...

Re: Doris Day in Julie
Have always thought it a shame that "Julie" was in black and white....with the scenery and filming outside and such. It's hard now to look back on a time where a decision was made to either film in color or black and white...can you imagine that happening now?

Well, I really enjoyed the 1st call and didn't think Ed was interrupting her too often. It was a nice chat between friends... Regarding the fan calls - Maybe it was just too much last year? I could imagine that their whole phone system must have almost broken down last year with all the calls... Th...

Re: Chat about the Magic 63 birthday broadcast - The actual day
There are three Doris films on TCM (UK) today, back-to-back, The Glass Bottom Boat, Lucky Me and Please Don't Eat the Daisies - must be to do with it being her birthday - anything on TCM USA? TCM USA is splitting it's day between Marlon Brandon and Doris....actually more Brando than Doris. There ar...

Megan - You did absolutely great last year. If you were nervous, it was not the least bit apparent. I, on the other hand, sounded like Gomer Pyle. At any rate, I'm SO looking forward to tomorrow...I'm taking the entire day off, and it will be Doris Day day at my house! Also, looking forward to heari...

I can relate too...when I have an awful day, or I'm feeling bad or low, I usually listen to Doris' "Day by Day and Day by Night" albums...they never fail to make me feel better. She has really give us all such a gift!

Thank you , John , Mary Anne and Nicki , Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We are doing alright, but I do miss her so much what a darling little dog she was. Re: A Golden Moment/Honoring Doris Day
I agree, so many thoughts must have been going through Doris' head. We have talked about this night before and about the clips shown. Whilst the Winning Team was funny [and no one laughed more than Doris]- it was a waste of time and so many more clips should/ could have been shown. I would have cho...

Re: your favourite male and female singers
Without a doubt, Doris is my favorite female singer. I'd rather listen to her than anyone else. I do also like Karen Carpenter and Anne Murray, but they're a faraway second and third from Doris. I tend not to listen to as many male singers. If I had to choose, first would be Harry Connick, and then ...

I agree...it was 1989. Thanks for posting the whole video. I remember watching it at the time, and being so proud of our Doris. She looked wonderful that night. She did tend not to watch herself on the screen...we all know that she doesn't like to do that. But, I also thought there may have been som...

Mike, Thank you so much for posting these lovely songs. It moves my heart to hear "ryans on his way to the round up " knowing how much his daddy loved him and wrote this cute little song for his grandma to sing to him. Terry sure was talented . I think that doris still had a pretty good voice even ...

Re: Story behind the photo
The dress above was designed by Irene for Doris to wear to the Oscars in 1960 when she was nominated for Pillow Talk. She liked the dress so much, she included it in her screen wardrobe for the film she was making at the time - Midnight Lace. By the premier of Midnight Lace - Doris had her hair cut...

Re: Story behind the photo
Good question! Looks circa "Midnight Lace" - was it the premier? Was Irene the designer? Don't know the year without looking it up - 1962? Jas probably knows! You're right on the designer...it was Doris' favorite, Irene. And, it does involve "Midnight Lace", but it wasn't for the premier.

Re: how many actresses do you know from silent days to the 1960s
From the silent days, my favorite is Mary Pickford. Also like Colleen Moore and Lillian Gish, who I met once in the late 70's. If you ever have a chance to see a silent film, in a theatre with a real theatre organ as an accompaniment, DO IT! You'll have a new and better understand of silent movies w...

Re: Story behind the photo
This one might be too easy, so I'll make it a little more challenging with three questions....Doris is modeling a dress here.
1. What year is it?
2. What was the event/movie the dress was designed for?
3. Who designed it?

In one of the interviews in the PBS documentary "Sentimenal Journey", she has on a fairly large, square ring. It looks like it might be turquoise; whatever it is, it seems to fit her hand well and looks good on her.

I thought about adding my phone number to the letters I've sent over the years, but the only time I ever did was on the sympathy card that I sent her after Terry died. It was presumptuous, on my part, to think that Doris might need someone to talk to....but you never know. Sometimes the perspective ...

She was an American faith healer that Doris seemed to put some trust into. She took Billy deWolfe to see Kathryn Kuhlman when he was dying, hoping for a miracle. Doris wrote about that in her autobiography. I'm sure there are videos of Ms. Kuhlman on You Tube.

I liked her with Rock, Garner, Cagney and Rod, but I really like her with John Raitt. The way they moved together and the way they looked at one another was enough heat to light all the matches going into Hernando's Hideaway! They really looked like a couple in love and otherwise!
