After seeing her last night on Dancing with the Stars, I would vote for Katherine Jenkins.
She can definitely sing and it appears she can dance.

I just realized that on my birthday (April 4th), I'll get to watch Doris Day movies. What a great present!

Re: Pillow Talk on the Big Screen
The Hershey (PA) Theater runs classic movies once a month over the winter.
On Feb. 12th, for Valentine's Day, they ran Pillow Talk!
The place was packed.
It was great. I sat about 7 rows from the front just so no one would sit in front of me.

The mermaid costume sold at the most recent Debbie Reynolds auction. $4500, I think. Well above the estimate.

James Garner
Rock Hudson
and Brian Keith (if they didn't already have their own shows, a TV show with the two of them would have run for years

Woo Hoo! I was the lucky bidder on one of the Jumbo costumes. It will be difficult to patiently await it's arrival.

Re: Doris Day Press books
The sets I have are 11"x14" and all the sets that I am collecting for the 39 films contain 8 cards. I have never seen any American 12 sets for any of Ms Day's films. The only film for which I do not have any cards is The Man Who Knew Too Much. I have 23 complete sets and 9 sets that only need 1 to 3...

I've seen the pressbooks but haven't started collecting yet. I'm working on the complete set of lobby cards from all 39 films. Have about three-quarters so far. There are some which are very difficult to get.

When I returned home last evening the local Public Broadcasting System (PBS) station was running a special called "The Big Band Years". It was hosted by Peter Marshall. I watched for two reasons. 1) because I like Big Band music, especially Glenn Miller. and 2) I knew at some point they'd cover Les ...

Doris and Rock were best friends and you don't normally marry your best friends, Ray, do you? :) You probably wouldn't remain best friends for long! Plus Rock was still hanging out with the boys. People do need to marry their best friends. After the hot passionate romance fades you need to k...

A mural is a large picture painted or affixed directly on a wall or ceiling. Greatly enlarged photographs may also be used. A mural is like a trompe l'oeil.

 that's the light bulb going on in my head. I recall reading several years ago that in order to have a wax figure done, the individual has to be measured extensively and have numerous photos taken. I feel certain that a woman who expresses every year that she doesn't know why a fuss is made ov...

As a contempory, Jean Simmons.
I've recently really discovered what a talented actress she is. The Big Country was great and I cannot fathom why she did not get an Oscar nomination for Elmer Gantry. The Grass is Greener is another good vehicle with an outstanding cast (Grant/Kerr/Simmons/Mitchum)

Re: How many of Doris' film co-stars are still alive?
I hate to sound like my sister (I'll explain later) but didn't Edie Adams pass away last year? Small aside - about my sister - We were in line waiting for the doors to open for Guys & Dolls last month. This older, very well dressed, woman walked past me and I said "That's Ruta Lee" to which my siste...

I also can't stand Rush and I'm a Rep. (Middle of the road; can't stand the political bickering either) I knew Doris was a Rep also, but I find it hard believe she subscribes to the over the top views of Rush's. I agree with LPT. I can admire someone's talents without agreeing with their personal vi...

Re: How far would you go?
I recently had to make the decision of how much was too much. The Fleetwood Mac tour was coming to Philadelphia and I really wanted to see them. Until I found out the tickets were $175.00 each. That wouldn't have been the only expense. The trip to Philly is a tank of gas. I'm sure we would have gone...
