Peter, you really are a wizard because the amount of detailed information here is staggering. What a marvelous job you’ve done.

I love the newly discovered version of “Again” that you posted above. It’s gorgeous.

Thank you,

Re: Chatting about Doris...

WWYWTLWO never got a DVD release and it is virtually impossible to find now. Here’s what IMBD says about it: “Along with Remains to Be Seen (1953), Flame and the Flesh (1954) and The Subterraneans (1960), this is one of very few films from the mid-century MGM library that appears to be lost, outside...

Love these high quality BW photos from Julie. Doris and Louis Jourdan made a handsome couple on screen.

Peter, I hope you know how much we appreciate your photos. You are one of a kind.

Re: Julie

If nothing else, this film introduced Doris to the splendor of Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula. That alone makes it worthwhile. Julie may be preposterous but it's watchable because Doris commits 100% to the role. It gave her another chance to show what she could do dramatically and it moved her fu...

Re: Cypress Inn

How nice to get some positive news in the midst of the pandemic, social unrest and economic fallout. I've worried about Carmel and the single-owned businesses that make that town so unique as well as the many service industry workers who drive in every day from less expensive areas to keep the hotel...

Re: The Man Who Knew Too Much

Quite a contrast to Kim Novak who objected to the similar gray suit she wore in Vertigo. Novak went to Hitchcock in protest but he held film because his vision of the film was detailed and non-negotiable. I love how Doris described her reaction to seeing herself onscreen. She's right - the actor has...

Judy - I couldn't agree more. This film hit on all cylinders and should have won multiple Oscar nominations include one for Doris, who was superb. Here's some tidbits about the soundtrack album which was a smash hit. From Wikipedia "Love Me or Leave Me is a Doris Day album based on the soundtrack of...

Simon,

Thank you for posting those timely lyrics. That was very thoughtful of you.

As Johnny mentioned, it certainly is a surreal time with no apparent end in sight.Thank goodness we have Doris's movies, music and television work online whenever we need a Doris Day booster shot.

Re: US protests

I haven't posted anything online because I can't find the right words. Every time I start to post something, it feels disingenuous, as if someone else's words are coming out of my mouth. The situation is far beyond anything I can fully understand, explain or shed meaningful light on. But I can't ign...

Re: Young at Heart

This film is too sweet and Americana for Gelb's tastes. It's about as Mid-Century Eisenhower as it gets and that apparently didn't set well with his cynicism. I do agree that Sinatra's refusal to die harmed the ending, but WB made this version for Mid-Century, middle class Americans who loved Doris,...

My husband and I had dinner with Tom when we were in NYC earlier this year. He mentioned how cooperative and pleasant Doris was when he was working on his book. Thank you, Bryan. You have a real knack, my friend.

More terrific finds from the wizard of rare photos. Thank you, Peter. You never cease to amaze me.

Interesting to see the on set photos from The Doris Day Show. Barbara Lampson and Connie Edney remained close to Doris for many years and they were loyal friends to her. That says so much.

Not my favorite movie or leading man, but it has its moments.

Best thing by far is Doris's melting rendition of the title song. I think hers is better than Sinatra's. Nice to read that Shelley Winters loved Doris's version too. Thanks for sharing that, Johnny.

Speaking of Michael's fabulous tributes, I wonder: Do you know if Doris has watched them?
