bad news!
I'm sorry to hear about Shirley Horn, a great jazz singer. On her CD entitled "Loving You," she does a jazzy version of Doris' "Should I Surrender." Very tasty. May she rest in peace.

Bryan: the photo you've got is a great one, and if you do change it, the photo from the "Duet" album is also a good choice.

Day songs
"Day By Day" would also be a good choice. I love what she does with it.

I voted average for this one. It's the only film, I believe, where Doris truly acted like a "virgin." It just was not believable that a good looking dame like DD, who was not a kid, would put up such a battle to hold on to her virginity! It did have its moments, however - I love the scene at the aut...

excellent film
"Teacher's Pet" is one of my all-time favorites. Despite the age difference, I thought Gable and DD had a good sexual chemistry going between them. The script was so well-written, and the performances are first class all the way. Doris never looked better and the scene in the classroom where she des...

Katie: You're thinking of Mamie Van Doren. She wrote that she and DD did not get along while filming "Teacher's Pet."

a brief encounter
It was just a brief meeting. I was working at a public relations firm and BS was a client. She threw a big fundraiser in her backyard for her politician buddy Bella Abzug. I was working at the fundraiser ... I was just introduced to her, we said a few pleasantries and that was it. From what I observ...

I've always enjoyed La Streisand, a good actress, a director and such a wonderful singer! She'll never replace my number one gal (guess who?), but she's certainly one of my top ten favorites! I had the pleasure of meeting her back in the mid 70s ... very nice!

mandy moore
Mandy Moore recorded her own version of "Secret Love." It wasn't bad at all. I think it was on the soundtrack recording of the Julia Roberts film, "Mona Lisa Smile."

standard reply
TP: Those songs don't belong to Doris. They're standards. She didn't introduce them. She, as well as many other fine singers, have performed them. They're all a part of what is known as "the great american songbook."

frances langford
If I remember correctly, Bob Hope felt a certain allegiance to Frances Langford, who had been singing with him for awhile. She was troubled (I believe), so Hope, being a nice guy, didn't want to let her go.

not a movie song
"When I Fall in Love" was not a DD movie song. It was a hit single release.
