Re: Young Man With a Horn

For the sake of accuracy, it should be noted that Doris Day saw Marlon Brando in "Last Tango In Paris" with Billy DeWolfe, and correctly they were both very embarrased. Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo

Interesting question Howard! Doris sang a few bars of Jingle Bells in, of all her movies, "The Tunnel of Love."

Re: UNRELEASED DORIS DAY/LES BROWN RECORDINGS

Peter, thank you for posting the entire Glen Island Casino broadcast from 25 October 1940. This having been a live radio station remote, I am curious as to how the audio was captured for us to hear it more than 78 years later. Was the broadcast later transcribed to a disc? But in any event thank you...

Howard, where in the world did you find this priceless gem--"Maybe"? This recording originated from The Glen Island Casino in New Rochelle, New York and was broadcast on 25 October 1940. What a magnificent find. It is the first recording Doris Day made with Les Brown and His Orhcestra. Thanks a mill...

Peter, I am never bored with anything you post, As a natter of fact I look forward to your postings, especially when they pertain to Les Brown/Doris Day recordings. I believe the first AFRS on the Amazon product should be for One Night Stand #496 recorded on 15 January 1945. The second one is news t...

Re: Doris Day on Live Radio Shows 40's/50's

Peter, the Les Brown Discography you found served as a basic source when the Doris Day Definitive Discography was formulated. I found it a great help in discovering the Les Brown/Doris Day legacy. In the process I found some errors in the Joyce publication which I corrected using my record collectio...

Peter, thanks for the new information on AFRS ONS #1084. That was a complete blank in the Doris Day Definitive Discography. Not now. On that particular ONS was the #9 song Sentimental Journey sung by Doris Day? Thanks again and Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo

Peter, the catalog numbers you show for the World Program Service (WPS) 16" transcriptions appear to be newer reissues of the original WPS discs. Please refer to my notes in The Definitive Doris Day Discography and you will see the original cut numbering WPS used when they first issued the transcrip...

Re: UNRELEASED DORIS DAY/LES BROWN RECORDINGS

Thanks Howard for posting the song "Take Me In Your Arms." The song you posted appears to be from V-Disc 412(B) recorded on 5 January 1945. Doris Day later recorded this song with Percy Faith which was released by Columbia Records as both a 78 and 45 rpm disc (#39786), with the flip side being her b...

Howard, thanks again for posting yet another rare Day/Brown track most of us had never heard before. In those transcriptions there are three track...

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2018

"Love Me Or Leave Me" was the film that captured me as a long life Doris Day fan. It was shown as a "sneak preview" to a packed audience. When the credits appeared, there some groans in the audience. I thought perhaps they expected a Warner Brothers type Doris Day musical without much of a storyline...

Regarding Rex Harrison's demeanour in Midnight Lace, we have to keep in mind that 6 months prior to the beginning of production, his wife had passed away. These were not very happy times for Rex Harrisson. Kay Kendall passed away on 6 September 1959 and production on Midnight lace started on 23 Marc...

Regarding South Pacific, I recall that the salary was the main factor for Mitzi Gaynor getting the role. In my opinion the studio was short sighted in not casting Doris Day for the role of Nellie Forbush. It would have been a film for the ages. Mitzi appeared to fantasize being Doris Day, and this w...
