Radio Transcriptions of WLW Cincinnati

My search of the internet produced some quite interesting items concerning possible existence of rare Doris Day programs from radio station WLW in Cincinnati. A project undertaken by Media Heritage Inc. involves the acquisition of 300-plus boxes containing 11,000 16-inch transcription discs. These t...

WARNER BROS SCREEN TEST OF DORIS DAY

We hear quite a bit about how great Doris Day was in her Warner's screen test. This was most recently mentioned in the British radio interview "Blonde on Blonde." Has the general public ever been treated to these screen tests, or have any of you ever seen them?

Re: Young at Heart

As we all know, "Young At Heart" was released by Warner Bros. In all the VHS and DVD releases of "Young At Heart" which I have seen, the opening credits and the ending credits are replaced by a blue screen. The sound track is still present, but the integrity of the original film is adversely affecte...

Re: "Everybody's making money except Tchaikovsky" by Doris?

Yes, Ray that is me (Gonzalo). Have been fine and am still as avid a Doris Day fan as when I saw you last at the Carmel fundraiser. What a great time was had by all. Still remember spotting you on the dance floor dancing with Doris. Lucky you. Heard recently from Miss Day after sending her a birthda...

Re: "Everybody's making money except Tchaikovsky" by Doris?

Sorry to disappoint Doris Day enthusiasts about the "Tchaikovsky/Day" connection. The Time-Life 12" LP does not include subject song by Doris Day. Side Three of the disc indeed contains the title "Everybody's Making Money but Tchaikovsky", but the vocalist is Betty Bonney. According to the liner not...

Re: Doris Day: 22 Original Recordings

Concerning the subject of LP--The originator of LP's was Columbia Records. LP stands for Long Play, which was recorded to be played at 33 revolutions per minute (rpm). The CD's of today replicate the format of the original LP's, and contain an average of six songs per side on the 12" vinyl disc. The...

Re: The most sexy song Doris ever sang ?

Two songs come to mind:

Let It Ring (unbelievable intonations).
Move Over Darling (which was reportedly banned by some British radio stations because it was too sexy).

Re: Songs of Doris Day & Barney Rapp

On April 3, 2009 I joined the "Doris Day Web Forum" and noted your inquiry about Barney Rapp/Doris Day recordings. Joyce Music Corporation issued a 12" LP (#LP-1058) quite a few years ago titled One Night Stand with Barney Rapp. The broadcast was from Cincinnati, Ohio on June 17, 1939 and includes v...
