Re: What are your 5 favorite Doris Day movie albums?

A minor point but it has to be mentioned. There was an extended play album from April In Paris. There were four songs included in the album, (1) April In Paris, (2) I'm Gonna Ring The Bell Tonight, (3) I Know A Place, and (4) That What's Make Paris, Paree. Small, but it is still a movie album. My fa...

Closer Cover Story 07/03/2017

Closer knows how to sell their magazine. The July 2017 issue has a cover story entitled "My Greatest Love Affair" which details her story on why she couldn't marry him. The article quotes Doris saying "he was unlike any man she had ever known and how she fell completely, unexpectedly in love and why...

Re: Barney Rapp/Doris Day song "I'm Happy About The Whole Thing"

Musiclover, I agree that the year Doris Day sang with Bob Crosbry Orchestra was 1940. I should have consulted my The Definitive Doris Day Discorgaphy to obtain the correct year. But in any event thanks for pointing this out, and in the meantime,

Re: Barney Rapp/Doris Day song "I'm Happy About The Whole Thing"

Johnny, you are correct that "Happy" is one of Doris Day's earliest recordings. Doris was 17 years old at the time. Technically speaking, an earlier recording is "Little Sir Echo", but both were transcribed during a live broadcast from Barney Rapp The Sign Of The Drum on 17 June 1939. There is a lon...

Peter, the two 16" discs you describe are included in the Doris Day Definitive Discography. Peter, what an interesting recording. It sounds like the track was speeded up so it is difficult to identify all the voices. I believe the second voice was that of June Allyson and the seventh was Robert Stack. Will keep trying on the others. In the meantime, Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo

Peter, a second WOW! What a treasured find. It was great to hear Mrs. Rossvelt talk about her admiration of Doris Day. Then the real treat came on hearing Miss Day's perfect diction, phrasing and sincerity in telling the story of the young refugee. But then to hear Miss Day sing, without musical acc...
