Thought you guys might enjoy these pics I took last year at a party on the Warner Bros' ranch, where the Bewitched house is (among the Jeannie, Gidget, Hazel and Partridge Family houses): A few exteriors of the Bewitched house... http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b117/Xanderville/Bewitchedhouseext6....

Re: Bewitched

I'm so dumb. I just figured out the guy in The Glass Bottom Boat, plays Uncle Arthur in Bewitched..lol Yep. Paul Lynde. And the next door neighbors are played by Alice Pearce and George Tobias, who played Abner and Gladys Kravitz (the first, and best, Gladys Kravitz). And the maid in With Six You G...

Didn't we actually use all her songs up?!

Seriously, I've been so busy I haven't been able to post as often as I used to. I do swing by for a very quick look around every day.

Re: Bewitched

Samantha, yes I've seen "Dark Victory." Her co-star was Anthony Hopkins, who played her surgeon and love interest. There are actually 2 versions of it: one is the complete 3 hour version originally shown on CBS back in 1976, then there is an edited down 2-hour version that gets shown once in a while...

Re: Bewitched

Just to clarify a bit: Liz's and Bill Asher's marriage was already ending. The last season of Bewitched only kept them together while they produced the series (akin to Lucy & Desi at the end of their marriage.) ABC was going to renew the show for a 9th season, with the possibility of a 10th. Liz dec...

And of course, there are links to Elizabeth Montgomery and Doris since EM was married to Gig Young during the years he did Teacher's Pet , The Tunnel of Love and That Touch of Mink . She would never talk about her years with Gig, as there was domestic violence involved. And then of course he ended u...

Re: Bewitched

Yes, Bewitched is one my favorites. I think it's a great love story actually, what Sam and Darrin both put up with to be with each other. Great supporting cast as well: Agnes Moorehead, Maurice Evans, Marion Lorne, Paul Lynde and many others. I absolutely adore Dick York as Darrin, but I'm gaining s...

Re: Doris Day: General Discussion 2

I was doing a little reading about Lew Wasserman, and ran across this statement : In addition, MCA invented the dubious practice of setting up production companies for entertainers so that they could avoid paying taxes. Of course later, when the star's career started to fade, that same production c...

I'm glad most of you think Sophia Loren is beautiful. Many people only think blond and blue eyed people are beautiful, but Loren is a lovely, dark Italian lady. Wonderful to see that kind of beauty! Littlepinetree, I agree. Can you image not having some dark beauties we've known: Sophia, Audrey Hep...

I know 'It's a Great Feeling' was shown in 1989 by BBC when they aired a short season of Doris' films to coincide with the 'I don't even like apply pie' documentary. I thought it was released recently too on dvd box set? YES U CAN GET THAT BOX SET BUT IT'S REGION 2 SO ONLY FOR USA DVD PLAYERS. Actu...

Re: The Academy Awards...

By and large, I really enjoyed this year's show. It was classy and seemed to move. I loved Queen Latifah singing "I'll Be Seeing You" against the In Memorium clips. Beautiful and moving. And I enjoyed the "Musicals Are Back!" number. Plus it was nice seeing 5 previous winners in each category presen...

Re: The Academy Awards...

I think there are some good ones today. Johnny Depp is an amazing actor. Russell Crowe can do anything Bogart or Robert Mitchum did. Diane Lane is beautiful and very talented, as is Laura Linney. And I think George Clooney has stepped into the Gable/Grant types of roles very well. You have to weed t...

A new edition coming to DVD, with some extras: Universal has announced an April 14th release date for Pillow Talk (50th Anniversary Edition). This first pairing of Doris Day and Rock Hudson also co-stars Tony Randall, Thelma Ritter and Allen Jenkins. It will retail for $19.98, but is available at Cl...

Philip Carey was wonderful. He had a great career and played the character of Asa Buchanan on "One Life to Live" for over 27 YEARS. That's awesome.

I think this is a pretty bad film, but not as bad as Tea For Two or April In Paris. Certainly not one of her best. I love Doris' look in the film though.

No, it's not true. The idiots at Fox News just released the following stupid story, where Doris is mentioned as a joke. This is what got picked up by the alerts. "The plans for the 2009 Academy Awards show are oh so hush hush. The producers won’t even tell us who’s presenting until they arrive on th...

I agree with Howard on the ending of TTOIA. It needs to be changed. As for YAH, I don't know if I'd change her going off with Sinatra, but I'd sure make sure he died at the end as originally planned. The one movie I'd definitely change is That Touch of Mink , because it's the one where she does play...

Mikey, that is TERRIFIC! I'm so glad she responded to you!

And your songs are certainly a terrific cross-section of her work. Many of those songs are among my most favorite of hers, as well.

I agree with you, LittlePineTree. I think this is a pretty bad film. I also dislike Tea For Two. They're both bottom of the barrel type musicals. But it's amazing how Doris transcends her material so often.

Re: With Six You Get Eggroll

LPT, I agree with Howard. I think you'll find it a charming film. Doris and Brian are GREAT together. The ending is slapstick and awful, but the first 3/4's of the movie is very good. But be forewarned, George Carlin has a pretty small role in it.
