Re: What is the Other Song from "The Man Who Knew Too Much"

Hi Mark: As Bryan said, it is called "We'll Love Again" and it was written by Jay Livingston (music) and Ray Evans (lyrics), the same team who composed "Que Sera, Sera" for the film. Doris recorded it twice; once as a single at the time of the film, and once a few years later on her album called I H...

Re: Doris Day: General Discussion 2

I agree with you totally Bryan. I don't think Doris has time to be on the computer, though I'm sure she'd be unable to use one anyway. I don't know about that Megan. My mom is 84 and very well versed on the computer. You'd be surprised the number of older people who have conquered computers in just...

What's this?
Is that from With Six You Get Eggroll, when she comes home to find the boys messing up the living room before the party?

Re: Doris Day: General Discussion 2

Starlift was the one remaining I hadn't seen, but thanks to the latest box set, I've now seen them all. It's a great question about Doris' choices if she had been the sole decider. But, sadly, we would have missed out on The Man Who Knew Too Much then. Marty really talked her into doing that one.

Re: Pillow Talk Remake.

I think it would have been too "on the nose" to use Doris' version, too predictable. I like the way they did it in the final cut. Plus, as Dominique said, Astrud's version is more appropriate tempo-wise.

Cute movie.

Re: CASTING CALL....

I agree Bryan. I'd keep Doris and Cary, but give them a better script. I could see Doris playing the American wife opposite him in Charade , although I adore that film just as it is. Ironically, I could see Audrey Hepburn doing the role in Caprice opposite Richard Harris. (Or course, she'd have neve...

Re: THE PAJAMA GAME

Yes, you are correct Bryan. That's another one she did live. And the studio fought her very hard on both of those live perfromances. She said by the time she came back to Warners to do the one in The Pajama Game she thought they would have given her a bit more credit that she knew what she was doing...

Re: THE PAJAMA GAME

While I like the way Doris plays that scene, I never liked "The Man Who Invented Love." I think it's a pretty mediocre song. I think they made the right choice.

Sadly, Philip Carey is now gone, too. (So I just edited the above list.)

As another contemporary, Mickey Rooney is still alive and kicking.

Re: Midnight Face??? Lol!

Okay, I thought I'd throw out a few premises for some of the film titles people have suggested: Romance on the High Peas - obviously a big screen, musical versision of "The Princess and the Pea" with Doris playing the Princess and Gordon Macrae as the Prince. Pillow Stalk - Doris shares a party line...

Too funny! "Midnight Face" !! LOL My absolute favorite was from "Doris Day: The Illustrated Biography" by Michael Freedland. He put a picture of June Allyson in the book as Doris!! What a maroon!! I mean, you can't even tell the subject of the book you wrote yourself???!

Re: Time Out New York...

I disagree with the critic's assessment that the ending of the movie is "cavemanish" at all. Jan got Brad to renounce all his girlfriends and agree to marriage, which he was dead set against in his first scene with Jonathan. The woman really came out on top at the end of the film, not the man. I don...

Re: The Globe Should Be Sued AGAIN!!!

So true. Doris sounded GREAT: happy and energetic. As far as the John Denver thing, I have moments like that and I'm half Doris' age. And the radio show thing wasn't bad memory... it was miscommunication between the host talking about the radio series and Doris talking about the television series. I...
