Re: Forum Banners 2013

Love all the old magazine covers. Melancholy and Bryan, you're on to something! Especially loved the one from the Choices cover. Love that room, wish I had a cat room like that. I had read it was the room for her cats and it was in the trees so that the cats could look out the window at the little b...

Re: New Video - "Doris Day in London 1956"

Pokeahugkiss, what a wonderful job you did with this. Loved your choreography with the photos and interview, especially the pic when he said that they had a surprise for Doris and her reply "I love surprise's! What a treat to hear Doris singing live, very rare! Thank you so much for sharing both you...

Facebook Academy Awards

Just a suggestion, here is a link to the facebook page for the Academy Awards, we can message them politely about considering Doris for an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement in films and animal welfare.

Re: Calamity Jane

Here's something interesting I also found: "Day's own favorite among her films, according to her memoirs, is Calamity Jane (1953). Her cheerfulness, optimism, and wholesomeness unjustly caused her to be written about with a certain condescension in the dark, tumultuous late '60s and early '70s. But ...

Re: Calamity Jane

After watching the Doris Day marathon, I came across this article about Calamity Jane. Very touching indeed, another quality of Doris Day that you have to admire. "The film also was Oscar®-nominated for Best Scoring of a Musical (Ray Heindorf) and Sound Recording. Day herself adored the score and sa...

Lauren, you brought these pictures to life with that wonderful song, told a story, you could almost feel you were sharing their experience. Great job. Some of these photos I have never seen. Thank you.

She sounds amazing and I'm so happy she addressed the tabloid rumors maligning Bob Bashara, her veterinarian and friend. Thank you Lauren for making a copy of it for us.

Re: Forum Banners 2013

Actor Robert Vaughn would agree with you, Jas. In his book entitled "A Fortunate Life," the actor, who appeared in a "Glass Bottom Boat" cameo, said: "I found Doris to be the sexiest star I ever worked with. Truly!" And Doris was especially sexy in this film, especially the dance scene! That southe...

Re: Producer Joe Pasternak talks about working with Doris Da

I appreciate all the commentary and couldn't agree more with most of them. I love Caprice as well, always have, and Glass Bottom Boat is an all time favorite. Regarding her politics, she may be conservative to a point, but she has never been conservative when it came to her friends in real life, Lik...

Re: Caprice

Caprice is a guilty pleasure if there ever was one. Like Ray, I've always enjoyed the clever opening title sequence and I laugh when the camera makes it obvious that a double is pretending to be Doris walking around Paris. I've always admired Frank Tashlin's gift for staging physical comedy set pie...

I went out for coffee and cake with a friend tonight at Olive Garden, and walked into the lilting voice of Doris Day singing "The Way You Look Tonight"

Re: Forum Banners 2013

Toby - Actually "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold Cream" was the working title for the 20th Century Fox film, "Caprice" and the line is actually spoken by Miss Day in "Caprice". "Caprice" was directed by the same director (Frank Tashlin) who directed "The Glass Bottom Boat". Paul, you are so corre...

Yes, it's "The Glass Bottom Boat" - what was the dog's name in that again? Vladimir or something? http://www.dorisday.net/forum/styles/GBB.gif Yes, Vladimir was the name of the dog in The Glass Bottom Boat. I wonder if the dog playing Vladimir was one of Doris's dogs, at first I thought it might be...

Just watched WITH SIX YOU GET EGGROLL again - wow, what a fun movie - it really didn't look dated at all except for the telephones. Doris was fabulous and looked great. Loved the movie...a little surprised at all Bob Osborne said at the end, but he was winding up the movie, I guess. Thank God for T...
