Re: ONE THING

I'm probably in the minority here, but, I didn't like either one of them. For the reasons already stated, one was too goody, goody and the other was miserable and self-centered.

Re: TCM

Back to TCM... TCM used to air the Doris Warner Bros movies quite often. It's where I first saw Tea for Two, West Point Story, On Moonlight Bay, By the Light of the Silvery Moon and Lullaby of Broadway. I love the end number in Lullaby of Broadway. Everytime I think to myself "and they said she'd ne...

Re: Meeting famous people

Today I attended the matinee of Guys and Dolls in New York. Oliver Platt walked right past me on his way into the theater. Then, after we took our seats, Ruta Lee http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0498181/ and her husband, Web Lowe were seated directly in front of us. At one point during the intermission M...

Re: Casting - The Doris Day Story

Mikey, You're absolutely correct and, unfortunately, it's been that way for years. I remember 40 years ago when I was a mere child of 15, none of my friends knew who Doris Day was and did not remotely share my avid interest. So for years, I was a closet Doris Day fan. I am very grateful for this sit...

Re: Casting - The Doris Day Story

How about Lauren Graham?
She's currently starring on Broadway in a musical, so she can sing and dance. She's got the requisite blue eyes. And, she looks great as a blonde.

Re: Happy St Patricks Day!

There's a program on the Travel Channel called Passport to Europe. Today, the presenter, Samantha Brown, was in County Cork, Cork city and County Kerry. A great coincidence. :D

Side note: The next episode she was in Rome. I've been there and would love to return one day.

My great-great grandfather was William Egan from County Cork. I believe there is, or was, a bar in Limerick (Egan's) that belongs to a distant relative.

One of my goals after retirement is to visit Ireland. :)

I just heard this band on a radio program that is broadcasting from Boston today (St Patrick's day).

This band is great. :D How well known are they in Ireland? Britain? Europe?

Great pics of the Bewitched/Jeannie houses. I've never gotten to see any movies places myself. A friend from work got me a picture of the Nights in Rodanthe house last summer. That house practically sits right in the ocean.

Re: how many actresses do you know from silent days to the 1960s

I probably shouldn't do this, but oh well. Vernonica Lake's birth name was Constance Ockelman. According to the 1930 United States Census, Constance Ockelman, daughter of Harry W. was listed as seven years old when the census was taken on April 8th, 1930. She would have turned 8 years old later that...

Re: British Actresses and Actors silent - 1960s

Kay Kendall and, in recent years, Zoe Wanamaker. Zoe Wanamaker was born in the U.S. but was raised in Britain, so I consider her more British than American. I saw "Genevieve" with Kay Kendall a short while ago. Very entertaining. And, I love "My Family" (Robert Lindsay is a riot). "My Family" and "A...

What's everyone's favorite non-Doris Day movie?

My all-around favorite is "The Great Race"

My favorite western is a tie between "Red River" and "The Big Country"
