I think everything looks fine as it is currently formatted. I like the larger banner and how it's swapped out occasionally. The color scheme is also easy on my old eyes.

Re: US Elections - who's going to be the next President?

Thank you, John M for the book recommendation. I will certainly look for this at the library. Although it's been some time, I, too, have read the Federalist Papers. American History has always been fascinating to me. I still stand by my belief that more attention needs to be paid to the people who a...

Re: US Elections - who's going to be the next President?

Thank you mikeydv. I am beginning to realize that nobody, no-bod-ie, has read the constitution since they were required to do so in high school. The president does not, repeat not, control "1/3 of congresses power". There are three parts which make up the governing body of the United States; the leg...

Here is a link to the United States Constitution http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution_transcript.html In particular, Article I, Section 7 states "Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the Presi...

Re: US Elections - who's going to be the next President?

Ellen Arden, I was so surprised when that you would refer to our president as a figurehead. It's true congress is important, but the president has the ultimate power - he can declare war on another country, and he doesn't have to ask anyone's permission. He also can veto any bill that congress trie...

Re: US Elections - who's going to be the next President?

The whole election boils down to one major thing..NO ONE REALLY likes ANYONE who is running. What a shame!!!! I still say DORIS DAY FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!! Unfortunately, since Doris Day is a Republican the race would ultimately turn ugly just has it has with the two current candidates. Neither of whom...

Re: US Elections - who's going to be the next President?

I'm always amazed at how much emphasis is placed on the Presidential race in this country. Our president is very much a figurehead. The laws and amendments are enacted by Congress (the Senate and the House of Representatives), not the president. Much more attention needs to be paid to the people who...

Re: YOUR THE PRODUCER

I definitely think they both could have pulled off the Nicholson/Keaton roles. I don't think James Garner was ever given roles that could fulfill his true range as an actor. As far as Doris, she could have easily handled the role of a fifty-something woman who was ready to really live life to the fu...

Re: YOUR THE PRODUCER

I think "Something's Gotta Give" would have been perfect for Doris Day and James Garner when they both were in their mid-fifties. That would have been a great movie. :D And it would have been wonderful to see them together again. I was always happy that Jimmy got together one more time with Julie An...

Re: Lobby cards

Lobby cards were posted the the lobbies of movie theaters. They showed scenes from a movie that was playing. They are 11 inches by 14 inches and there were 8 to a set. The set usually included a title card and 7 scene cards. These cards were printed for theaters all over the world. Here is a link to...

Oh, I absolutely know it just the movies. I do have a firm grasp on reality. I just don't like movies where the "hero" dies. There's a couple of John Wayne movies I won't watch either. I've never really liked Julie and Midnight Lace. I've always been mainly a comedy/musical fan.

I collect lobby cards, specifically lobby cards from Doris Day movies. What else is there, right? :) I have about two-thirds of all the lobby cards from all 39 movies. Does anyone else also collect lobby cards?

I found out last winter that I am related to U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower. Back in the late 1700's there was a Johann Eisenhauer who had 15 children to three wives over a 40 year period. I am related to Johann's oldest child/son and Dwight Eisenhower was related to Johann's youngest child/son.
