Re: Did Doris retire too early?

Doris is CLASS for sure!! I respect her most for quitting when she did, because she didn' want to be a part of the changing times.

Re: Your Top 5 and Bottom 5 Doris Day Leading Men

Thanks for persuading me otherwise everyone. I really haven't read much on Howard Keel and was a bit upset when I heard that clip, because I thought I liked him, so I am glad to hear all the good things and especially that he liked Doris.

Re: Your Top 5 and Bottom 5 Doris Day Leading Men

I know she always talks about how much fun she had making Calamity, so maybe I misconstrued what I heard. In fact, it is only one small clip that I did hear and he was talking about one scene in Calamity when he had to pick Doris up and put her in the wagon. He tried to discuss it with her on just h...

Doris and Howard didn't hit if off did they? Howard seemed a little resentful that it was a Doris film.

Re: Your Top 5 and Bottom 5 Doris Day Leading Men

From the professional point of view, Barbara played tough and tried to break her and I suppose to her that is success, but not something I admire. Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas showed much more class when they treated her like a lady.

Re: Your Top 5 and Bottom 5 Doris Day Leading Men

Somehow it seems worse when it is a woman. Louis Jourdan and James Cagney's characters don't even seem to bother me as much. Although, I am not a fan of either one even outside of those characters, but janice Paige and Mamie Van Dorn are another story. I also know I have trouble watching Doris being...

Re: New Doris Day Websites!

I just noticed that the launch date has been moved up to August 2010, so I guess we have to wait just a little bit longer to hear from Doris, but August is much sooner than her next birthday, so that is the good news.

Doris is amazing!! Jackie stated on her birthday how amazing she was and how she continued to learn and move forward, boy was she right! This is so great! I can't wait to purchase the CD and DVD.

Re: Did Doris retire too early?

I admire her for leaving Hollywood when she did. As I have heard her say, things have changed since she worked with Rock Hudson, Clark Gable and Cary Grant and all the rest and she didn't much care for the changes.

Re: Doris Day: General Discussion 3

I just heard a television commercial for miracle grow potting soil which I have seen numerous times, but just now realized that the man talking was Philip Brown from Doris's television series. I had read that he did commercials, but had never seen him for myself, it was a nice surprise.

Re: Doris' Dogs

Oh, Biggest's story is so special; he has to be one of Doris's favorites. Doris just has such a special way with dogs. It seems like I read some where was it Lord Nelson correct if I'm wrong wouldn't perform, if he couldn't see Doris. I've always heard that if you save a dog's life they really do bo...

Re: Doris Remodels Home

All I know is that I admire her for her spunk and positive outlook on life. She has always taken care of her self and continues to do so. Remodeling her house is just another sign of her zealous for life. Her house is afterall, 30 years old now, I am sure updating was necessary and actually overdo s...

Re: the most important thing Doris Day has done

You are so right!! That is why I like her movies, because rhe right side wins. I know there has been some good accomplished with things such as domestic violence coming out of the closet, etc, but society today dwells too much on the negative. It has society as a whole blaming everyone but themselve...

Re: the most important thing Doris Day has done

Oh, I know she is only human, but I still believe she has very little ego, if any. Her talent and gifts took her a long way career wise, but her innocence made her an easy target. But just like in her movies, her principles won and those that tried to hurt her received the worse for it while she con...

Re: the most important thing Doris Day has done

I guess I just don't remember that. I understand what you were saying now, WOW, I guess I had a blonde moment. How difficult that whole situation had to be for her. It is so surprising that Rock accepted her invitation, but it seems as if he knew it would be "Good Bye". Once she saw him, she knew h...

Yes, but once he arrived, she wanted him to stay and offered to help nurse him back to health.
