I am not sure but I could hazard a guess. Could it be a reference to all that stuff that is like "just another Doris Day" movie? You know, like all the other movies that were similar, where there seems to be a lot going on but not actually, and Doris is still the perennial virgin?

It is largely what the Ladies in the Horizontal Ladies Club think about : the art of manifesting.

Gerald, I'll manifest you if you go on about "virginal twilight zones" (removed). I don't know where you got all that from.

I think they called it that because they thought it was more interesting than "Just Another Day" but it doesn't seem to be about her.

I apologize. It is rather like a never ending corkscrewing vortex that she is caught up in, and you can sense that in the music. It is almost like a somnambulant trance.

I contacted the writer and arranger of the music. This is what he said :
Gerard,

It's about a feeling that Doris Day( The actress) emotes with her films and presence. Very prim and proper along with that sixties vibe of wholesomeness. I also took some of my favorite songs and and tried to capture the musical feel of a group called The Left Bank which is a big influence on me.

Thanks for your inquirey and I hope I answered your question,

Best,
Tommy Marolda
So, you see I was not that far off !

Very enterprising of you - and illuminating. Just shows how wrong you can be (or me, in this case) when you make assumptions. Sounds like a lot of thought went into it. Will have to listen again.

Thanks Gerard! 8)

I just heard the song. It's pleasant, but I think Gerard was spot on when he guessed what the song was about. His description of the song was funny

Bryan, you and Gerard should be a comedy duo, like Abbot and Costello.
He: and Doris is still the perennial virgin?
You: I'll manifest you if you go on about "virginal twilight zones"
This stuff is great comedy writing.

Gerard, maybe you should introduce the song writer to some of Doris' sexy songs. I doubt if he swaw more than one Doris' film.

"Hey, Bryan, that woman is caught up in a never ending corkscrewing vortex!"
"Shut up, Gerard or I'll put you in a somnambulant trance!"

It doesn't have quite the same ring to it! But I like your observations on life, Velda! :)
Is your film finished yet?

"Abbott and Costello." Online Photograph. Britannica Student Encyclopædia. 25 Apr. 2008.
Just noticed that Bud was quite young when he died:
Bud Abbott (William A. Abbott, 1896–1974), born in Asbury Park, N.J., and Lou Costello (Louis Francis Cristillo, 1908–59)

I listened to the song again - still not mad about it, it reminds me of bands I listen to in my younger days - "Yes", in particular comes to mind - anyone heard of them? http://tinyurl.com/sfxsh

Bryan, a great photo of Abbot and Costello, but, on second thought , you and Gerard are more Monty Pythonesque. What do you think? Well, just keep on entertaining us.
Regarding my movie, the filming is done. I'm experiencing editing delays. Editing, as you know, is an incredibly important process as it can make or break the movie.
My movie is a modern twist on the Pillow Talk genre. It's not a parody, as Down With Love was, but, it has comedy, drama, music, dancing, all in a short movie. I threw everything at it , but the kitchen sink. That's why the editing will be so critical, Another twist is that the romantic couple is interracial, with the Doris Day character played by an African Canadian actress and the Rock character is white.
I recorded the songs I composed for the film. When I was in Carmel, I sent Doris a CD of my songs for her BDay. The CD is dedicated to Doris, since she's my number one Muse. One of the songs is called the Animal Song and, if it sells, my part of the royalties goes to DDAF.
I gave CDs to the DD fans at Cypress Inn. The response, on the whole, was positive.
One of these days you will all be able to hear the songs.

Really looking forward to that, Velda. It all sounds very interesting.

How long is it? Where is it going to be shown? Do you have to try and make your money back/make money to finance the next project etc? Or are you doing it for the love of it? (Not that you can't do both!)

If you need any promotional clips done to show on YouTube, I'm your man (no charge of course) but you may not want to do that or are able to do it yourself - but it would be good to see a taster on your website.

Either way, another Doris-inspired project is about to hit the streets! 8)

Mr Webmaster, you have yourself a deal!
I can't wait for it to be done. I feel like I'm giving birth to a baby and hope it'll be healthy and cute when it comes out. This whole project was wholly inspired by Doris and she is referrenced a lot in the movie.
The movie should be about 25 minutes long. I would have loved to have made a feature film, but, would have neede outside investment. I'm plannung to show it in festivals. Does London have one? We have big ones in Montreal and Toronto.
I wouldbn't mind recouping some of the money I invested in the project, but, I'm not depending on it. Some of the tunes on the CD have some commercial appeal, though. We'll see. The whole process was a dream come true and I loved every minute and that is its own reward. I worked with some very talented and dedicated people who taught me a lot
As soon as I have some stills , Ill post them on my website.
