WE'RE BACK!!

Unread post by webmaster »

I can't believe it but with some expert help.. WE'RE BACK!!

This is the latest version of the forum sofware I was using - a big upgrade and considered very secure.

Still needs a bit of customising - avatars seem a bit large but we can sort all of that out - have a look around and make yourself at home!

HOORAY!!

Bryan

Will say more about 'the experience' later.

Woohooooo! Congrats on the new forum, Bryan! :D I hate the fact that certain 'people' might be reading our discussions here but what the hell. It's so great to be back. What an experience. I'm very sorry that some posters had to become the subject of some nasty remarks. And I'm SO glad everything's restored and (almost?) no posts (and members?) are missing (I'd gotten deleted lol)!

I think the hackers  are too busy destroying other website to worry about us.

I think we may have lost a week to 10 days of posts but I think we can live with that.

Doesn't feel like home yet but working on it.

It will, in no time. I've forum-migrated many times and the new forum has always been better than the old, too; this seems to be no exception. And it'll feel much more like home when a gorgeous Miss Day will find her way up there in the banner area. For the moment I guess we're waiting for everyone else to take notice that the forum's baaack.

Yes, it is great to be back - I think we've all missed our little Doris Day family - and being able to talk about and admire her. Glad you can all get back in - it's better than the old site, I think, it's like moving into a posh house - where shall we put the furniture?

I've noticed there is a Flash option as well so perhaps we can view YouTube videos we create on here - Miss M?!

One casuality seems to be the avatars - I'll sort those out soon,

But glad to see you all!!

I dropped into the library this morning, just to check and was thrilled to see that you had everything up and going. And while I was on, the banner popped on! It was so good to see Doris again. Then when I got home and say the new banner, it's terrific. Bryan, Thank you so much for all your hard work. It there anything legally that can be done to get these guys? Hacking can't be legal. I'm finding my way around the new stuff. I think the pictures are much clearer.

Wowza, Bryan! A bouquet of daisies -- make that TWO bouquets -- for the great "save" job! The forum looks better than ever!

How do I get an avatar? And why does that sound like something out of a medieval war battle?

Not sure what's happening with the avatars - this is only the second day and I'm still a bit tired from the whole experience but I'll investigate it. Meanwhile I'm deleting the ones that don't fit any more - I have copies.
But I noticed a few people have managed it to change theirs successfully - John, how did you change yours?

And we have a new Moderator - Marion, who runs another forum so it's good to have some more help.

I can only add to the kudos that other members have already offered. As Doris has said and demonstrated many times, good things come out of awful experiences.

Can people please change their passwords for security reasons - just to be on the safe side.

And please be careful about any suspicious emails from this board or board members if they contain links you are not sure about. (Emails are okay to open - it's clicking on links or opening attachments that can cause problems.)

I hardly ever send mass emails (only once or twice in last 3 years I think, excluding that sent by hackers) so be careful. You can also change your email if you want to.

Always use Anti-Virus and Anti-Spy software.

You can get free Anti-Spy software, which I use myself, AdAware from here: http://lavasoft.com/

You can get free Anti-Virus software here: http://free.grisoft.com/

As I had to look around a little until I found the place where to change the password:

User control Panel > Profile > Edit Account Settings

There you can also change your mail address

Under Profile > Edit avatar one can also reload the old avator (or put a new one in)

Bryan, I just went to my Profile and added the new avatar. It worked like a charm once I resized the pic. I'm torn, because I love my Gordon pic, but I also love the 'tiel.

You've really done a stupendous job geting this back up and running so quickly and so well! We'll get the little details ironed out, so don't sweat them too much. 8)

Welcome to the Mod Squad, Marion! :D

"Who's a pretty boy? Who's a pretty boy?" Squalk!! :D

Well at least you'll have an excuse for getting your feathers ruffled! :)

There's no reason why you can't change your avatar any time you like.

Still can't work the damn thing out though...
