Wasn't this after her show came to an end maybe 1973 or 1974. (Her dress looks like one of the ones she wore in the last season of her series) Anyway, didn't she reluctantly agree to fly to England with Jaqueline Suzanne, who I think was writing a new book, or promoting a new book at the time? These shots were taken in England and at Heathrow (sp). Am I on the right track?

Yes, Jake, you are correct, well done. Unfortunately you now have to come up with the next 'Story behind the photo'! (send me a PM if you need help).

Jacqueline Susann persuaded Doris to write her own story - and also to go on a trip to London to promote her own book - how did she manage that????

I did a quick search for JS + Doris and found this paragraph, which seems to be before they left for London.
On her way from Hollywood for a European vacation with her new friend Jacqueline Susann, invincible Actress Doris Day, 49, stopped over in New York and had a chat with the man who will write her biography, A.E. Hotchner. Doris impressed the writer with her lack of pretentiousness. During her brief Manhattan visit, she rode a rented bike around Central Park; back at her hotel, the only thing she ordered from room service was an ironing board. How did she make friends with Novelist Susann, 48, who after all specializes in the kind of sex scenes Doris refuses to play? They both love strays. Dogs, that is.

Sadly, it has been written, that during this trip to England, Jacqueline Susann told Doris
that she had Breast Cancer. I just found a Web site that profiles Jacqueline
Susann. I have no idea if any of this information is factual, so in fairness
to MS. Susann, more research/web sites/info. should be considered.

Nice pic, Pam. (Doris looks much taller there than in the photos at London Airport! :? )

While Jake sorts out his 'story behind the photo', here's another one to keep you going. If you know straight away, just say you know, as you did before, but don't give the answer.

Who is this and what is her connection with Doris Day?

Howard said, Is it...........?

Yes Howard! But I asked if you could not identify her straight away!

Let's see if anyone else knows. Bryan

(It's no fun if you say who it is straight away as it takes awhile to do and nobody else gets a chance to think about it.)
Like Irene Dunne done.

Don't worry, Howard - I'd expect you to know!

(If you saw Howard's answer please don't reveal it yet.)

And it's not Ruth Etting.

You can do it now if you like. You also have to say what the connection is and who made it - not just her name.

And if you can come up with another one until Jake is ready that would be a bonus.

Would it be the actress Doris's mother named her after? I can't recall her name, but I know the first was Doris.

Yes, Laurie. A few of you have got this

She's silent movie star, Doris Kenyon, whom Doris' mother, Alma, named her after.
Rather like Doris named Terry after the comic strip "Terry and the Pirates".
