It was a good segment. It wasn't too much about the book, although it was mentioned. It was more than a PR segment. I thought it was well done.

It was a wonderful segment, about 12 minutes long and filled with film clips showing Doris. There was very little about the author or the book. Any publicity about the book that's on TV is obviously going to include Doris's career moments and photos. So even if you don't like / won't read the book, just enjoy the clips.

This is a good example as to why we should just subscribe to Google Alerts and not argue about it on here.

Did you post the clips then Rita? if not dear, it's difficult to see the clips you are referring to, as I and quite a few others are from the UK...

I wasn't arguing, I was making a valid comment about the show. But I knew I'd get jumped about it, like I usually am.

It was a very good segment. I was happy to see that they emphasized her recording career. Too often, that turns out to be nothing but a sidebar. Good show!

I was speaking generally - the fact that many posts had to be edited and a certain amount of bad feelings generated.

That's the truth! I hate that it is always relegated to the rear, behind the movies.

Also, I think that CBS News sometimes puts those segments up for viwwing on their website, for anyone that missed it or resides overseas.

I loved the 10 minute segment. It is funny, to me, that every time I mention the name Doris Day...it doesn't matter if I am talking to someone past their 60's, or below 20, I ALWAYS get the same response...'OOOOHHH I LOVE DORIS DAY....and they do, for different reasons..but all reasons gladly accepted. Like was said about her at the end of Hotchner's book, when Doris was born, GOD did a little dance around her. AND HE BLESSED ALL OF US! :D

Welcome Mikeydv! You are so right -- God did do a little dance around Doris the day she was born. I also felt the CBS segment was an excellent piece, very well done. I see this is your first post. Why not stop in the off-topics section and introduce yourself. Tell us a bit about yourself....how did you discover Doris?

Thanks...it is so nice to find another place where others care so much about my lady.
My friends/family are tired of hearing about her/ h earing her records/ watching her movies. Their loss!
I think THE WORLD is finally realizing just how important Doris Day was...and isn't it about time? And she never thinks of herself as a superstar/ humility to the inth degree.

Welcome to the forum, Mikeydv!

Think you will enjoy this place - full of all sorts of colorful characters who love Doris. I was Doris Day's personal secretary while she was filming "The Doris Day Show" at CBS in the '70s.

How lucky for you, doris day fan, that you got to be so close to Doris..I am sure there was never a dull moment. At the same time, how rewarding to be so close to the lovely lady.

I imagine you could say quite a lot about Doris and even tho we have only corresponded in letters, I feel like I know her so well. I wrote her once about a project I had my class do regarding her while I was teaching high school theatre, and she responded that she loved it. (I was telling one of the girls in the class to play a scene like Doris Day would. The girl responded: "Who is Doris Day?" After two weeks of research, every one knew! Through the years, we have corresponded about 30 times I guess (all in answers to letters I have sent), and I keep her letters in a prized scrapbook. I am sure she probably does not know me by name, like she does some of you, but I don't like her any less because of it. In fact, I just wrote her a letter recently to tell her my feelings about the current books written about her, and to thank her for being so nice to me when she met me as a child of 7-9 (not sure of exact date) while singing with the Les Brown band in Atlantic City.
