It was such a thrill for me to listen live last year and call in etc. Unfortunately this year I will have to listen belatedly but for a very good cause.
Right here in Belfast in the North of Ireland and on April 3rd [Miss Day's birthday] is a live show that pays tribute to Miss Day and I will certainly be there. The show features a vocalist and a trio paying homage to Doris' recordings and finishes with film clips of the wonderful lady herself, including clips from Pillow Talk, Man who Knew too Much, Love me or Leave Me and of course Calamity Jane.
For those listening live - enjoy; I know you will. I very much look forward to listening to the show and [hopefully] to hear Miss Day once again, sounding superb!
I'm sooooo excited, I can't wait! I loved hearing all the great DD music, I even heard some songs last year I had never heard before. And if you all remember the Song Initials Game, you'll know that's amazing..lol I'm planning on calling in again, so everyone be listening for me. I'm also pleased to hear DoDo will be calling in again, this is going to be great!

Maybe the fur isn't real! There are fake furs that look very real. I don't like wearing fake furs because people might think it's real! True Samantha, Doris looks great in hats!!
I love the picture too. She looks so youthful and cute!
It's a great pic, and the reality is Doris chose to wear fur for many, many years. There certainly are lots of pics around with her wearing it. But not many are as cute as that one!

True John, Doris has wore many furs through the years. I think for many years now she has been wearing fake furs. The white fur she wore in pillow talk was fantastic, however (I wish it had been fake fur ) now I am sure she wished she had never worn it.
Samantha is right, many people in those days wore fur. Very popular in that era. But later, people got more concerned about cruelty to animals and people wore less real fur. I'm sure these days, Doris wouldn't even think of wearing real fur. It looks best on the animals!! Eating meat is for survival, and good for our health, but wearing fur is just senseless.
And let's not even talk about how and where many of the (especially smaller) animals are electrocuted so that the fur isn't "burned" or "singed" in the process. Absolutely horrific.
And these day, Doris doesn't even wear fake fur. She's absolutely against the message of any animal skin being worn for human decoration.

I'm so glad Doris doesn't wear fur anymore, and not even fake fur!
"And these day, Doris doesn't even wear fake fur. She's absolutely against the message of any animal skin being worn for human decoration". Great point John M!
We're all so good at going off-topic - where's the moderator?
I'm really looking forward to the broadcast - I'll have to work out the time difference. Last year I remember it was almost 3am and I could hardly keep awake and it was still going. And we had an open topic and people were commenting while it was on - we should do that this year.
Actually, I'm going out that night and probably won't be back until late but I'll check it as soon as I come back. I just looked at the world clock - http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock - London is 7hrs ahead of LA so that's a rough guide. The early part of the day shouldn't be a problem - I'm going to record what I can while I'm around - can other people record as well if they are able?
WOW... My avatar has brought up quite a discussion.. John, I love your signature!
Yes Bryan, I remember last year how you said you were getting tired and all. I think we should have an open topic discussion again like last year too. I won't be able to get on and listen until after school, but I still think it's a great idea. I remember how I talked on the radio and everyone was talking about it on here, it was really cool! I can't wait!

I'm so excited too! I'm sure it's going to be great this year, just like last year. I agree I think an open discussion would be wonderful! I love how everyone gets so excited and happy during this time, it's great!
