Doris looked good with a blue hat on and tried to be very open. But Barbara seemed miffed with Doris because she knew how to dodge certain questions presented by Miss Wa Wa. Doris was a master at this and it bothered Barbara who supposedly turned down and autographed copy of Doris's book. Doris out mastered the master!LOL

Ray, you are so right, Doris out did Barbra at her own game didnt she ? After being in show biz all of these years Doris knows her way around an interviewer.. I adore the picture of Doris and Marty hugging around that pillar or post , that is so cute. Ray , I know someone who actually knew Marty and that person said that Marty was actually quite good looking in person. Just does not usually take a good picture. Thats how it is with some people. I have heard from several different sourses that Marty was way more handsome in person.
As I have said many times on the forum, I think that they loved each other and seemed to always have alot of fun togeather. I remember Doris stateing in an interview that "it " was good between them for a very long time, and even went on to say that she enjoyed his company even in the arranged part of their marriage.
True love is not always 50 years of mad passion, its more like Doris sitting with him while he was in the hospital and giving him the comfort of her "just being there " . Being there from 8:00 A.M. til midnight.
True love is Marty giving Doris comfort when she fainted on the set of Midnight Lace and he got in bed with her and sang to the Worlds most famous and best singers with his off key voice, hyms that she loved. My point is that beauty really is in the eyes of the beholder.and I think in their eyes that when they looked at each other they saw someone very beautiful... :D

No, she didn't - it's a very good interview - but it's a large file and I'm trying to think of the best way to share it.

Such a perfect way to put it, I couldn't agree more.

Thank you so much! I hadn't seen that before and it's just wonderful! I don't really like Barbara Walters as an interviewer, but Doris definitely holds her own.

Oh Thank you!!!! I just got done watching it. Barbara is really just the best and with Doris as her guest it couldn't have been better! I loved that she asked her difficult questions, they were both funny together.
Again, thank you for putting it up I know it must have been difficult! :D

Glad you were able to view it and I agree, Dominique, I liked the 'tough questions' approach from Barbara Walters. It was funny seeing Doris' reaction when Barbara mentioned how many dogs she had! I think there must have been some legal limit for domestic residents where she lived at the time. Doris looked shocked - did she say, 'I can't believe you said that'? I know she said 'They aren't all mine!' And Doris looked great - 'without make-up' too, didn't she?

And a big thanks to Howard for sharing this with us. 8)

Thank you Howard and Bryan. That was terrific. I LOVED the moment when Doris said she and Ronald Reagan differed now that he was a Republican. LOL!

WOW!!!

That's an interview I never thought I'd see. My expectation was that Barbara was not happy with D's responses and that the interview was strained and didn't go well. Instead, it was nice to hear Barbara say at the beginning that she knew D. and liked her and so was biased in her favor.

Eighteen uninterrupted minutes, something it's hard to get on TV these days, with good exchanges between D. and B. The bit about "what does a virgin look like, please send pictures" was very funny. It was also interesting to hear that "Charlie Manson stole the telescope" from the Malibu Beach house!

Doris, as usual, was delightful. Thank you very much Howard for sharing and Bryan for enabling us to see this interview after all these years.

Thank you so much Howard and Byran, a joy to see this. I too never thought I'd get to see it.

Now to find the Mike Douglas interview from 1977 I believe, and the full 1983 Good Morning America interview, that would be great.

Now that would be amazing to see . I am very happy with this one, I don't know if they could be better.
It's really so exciting getting to see all of this live footage of Doris during interviews. Just imagine if they actually had tapes of her talking to A.E. Hotchner when he was intervieweing her for her book. That would be neat to see!
