Wow, what a striking BW rendering that is. Very sensual and far more interesting than most of the film itself. Sorry, Julie fans, but this film has never been among my favorites.

I think the work that Bryan and Puck have done on all of the banners deserves special recognition. They brighten up the whole forum. Thank you both.

Very funny Ray. Yes, Julie was a busy lady and she conquered all obstacles in the end.

In the words of the terrific Peggy Lee song, "I'm A Woman" Julie could...

"Slip up a great big dip up of lard From a drippings can.
Throw it in the skillet, do her shopping
And be back before it melts in the pan"

Here is a link to a You Tube video that puts the idea across in smashing style. Enjoy.

"Julie" was one of (Doris biographer) David Kaufman's favourite films, describing it as a classic film noir - I seem to remember from an interview I did with him ages ago on the only Blog I ever attempted (and never did again):

Yes, it kind of puts you in the mood, doesn't it? Puck sent me quite a few so expect more - also will probably do one or two myself.

I always look forward to Christmas - a time to get together with friends, forget work, eat too much, drink too much, listen to Doris' Christmas CD, watch "White Christmas", "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" and see too much TV and films generally, talk to people on the forum, be happy and "have yourself a merry little Christmas" (sung so beautifully by Doris - let's agree to all listen to it on Christmas day?). And, if you are religious/philosophical, think about the meaning of life and the fact that we all need one another, you shouldn't hold grudges (to err is human, to forgive is divine, etc) - or in modern parlance, "get over it". Life is short and none of us are perfect anyway.

I think the banner is having an effect on me! Thanks Puck!

Thank you, Puck. As you suggest, the forum is very much a team effort and I appreciate the efforts of everyone. I get slightly embarrassed if I get singled out but I accept it in the context of the fact that we are a group of fans who've been with Doris for a long time and we all contribute our own knowledge and, in many cases, personal experience, of her.

Hope everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit. I think I've been to too many celebrations so far! :) Only one more to go - tonight - I woke up feeling I couldn't cope with another one as I'm still recovering from Saturday but feeling a bit better now, if somewhat tired. Looking forward to later in the week when all the pressure is off!
