Frank Sinatra with Doris Day and Lauren Bacall at the Sands Hotel in 1955.

I thought it was Kirk Douglas who said he didn't 'get' (understand) Doris?

Doris and Kirk seemed to get on well in the 1950s (they frequently entertained as couples with their respective spouses).

Look at the clip on the forum somewhere of the photoplay awards circa 1956- Doris & Kirk are all over each other!

Any 'fued' I hope is long gone and seems to have occurred due to the comments made (by both) about each other in Doris' autobiography. In fact [to me] it seems as if Kirk commented in a slightly negative way and when Doris got wind of it, she retorted (later in the book) - sort of out of context. Who knows why Kirk commented the way he did? He had been swindled by Rosenthal [Doris' lawyer] - perhaps through Marty? So maybe that led to bad feeling.

Celeste Holm remarried for the fifth time, at age 88. What interested her? Opera, apparently, stirred her.

Staying with DD's early B&W film dramas, here's "Young Man With a Horn":
Very good banner. Makes me think of the true story of the wonderful cornet player that inspired this movie: Bix Beiderbecke. He was of german origin as Doris, and also a very gifted musician. I agree with JMichael who said here : viewtopic.php?p=22843#p22843 that Kirk Douglas did not render quite well the sensitive character of Bix.

(When I see Kirk Douglas I can't help thinking to Spartacus and this doesn't fit well in this part).

Oh! The Deadwood Stage is a-rollin' on over the plains,
With the curtains flappin' and the driver slappin' the reins.
Beautiful sky! A wonderful day!
Whip crack-away!, Whip crack-away!, Whip crack-away!

Oh! The Deadwood Stage is a-headin' on over the hills,
where the Injun arrows are thicker than porcupine quills.
Dangerous land! No time to delay!
So, Whip crack-away!, Whip crack-away!, Whip crack-away!

We're headin' straight for town, loaded down, with a fancy cargo,
Care of Wells and Fargo, Illinois - Boy!

Oh! The Deadwood Stage is a-comin' on over the crest,
Like a homing pigeon that's a-hankerin' after its nest.
twenty-three miles we've covered today.
So, Whip crack-away!, Whip crack-away!, Whip crack-away!

Wow Bryan, you did it again, Wonderful. Thank you so much. You give us a warm welcome.
Spring is in the air, but still leaves a long time for coming. It's here still cold and foggy, it's look like Spring is still so far away.

We've had our first warm sunny day for ages in London today - and across the country. It's been a long hard winter for most of us, I think.

Thanks guys - I couldn't get the colour quite right but appreciate the comments.

I've been updating the main site behind the scenes - have almost finished - working with lots of images, the above two caught my eye - developing the Spring theme. What do you think? The French version seems to suggest 'love in the afternoon" and the woman looks nothing like Doris! The Danish one is great, I think - but I like them both!

Nice banner! But, as Rachel said, "te per due" is Italian, not French. :)
Would you please get off this line!

Although I don't care too much for the film, I love the April in Paris banner- very chic- kind of Dior's new look.
