The first Doris Day movie I've ever seen was "It Happened To Jane".
It was not my favorite however, but Doris' charm wanted me to see more and now I've seen all of her 39 movies!
I love "It Happened to Jane." It's a charming film - she and Jack Lemmon, I thought, had great chemistry, and I'm only sorry they never did another film together. I've read that they both wanted to re-team, but unfortunately, that never happened.
I wouldn't say I didn't like it, it just wasn't my favorite. It was long ago when I watched it and I do need to see it again to give it another chance. Who knows, it could have been a mood I was in that was the reason for not being crazy about it. I'll watch it again soon.
THE GLASS BOTTOM BOAT when it had first been released in 1966. I even remember where I saw it. I was 7 years of age...and the place was the WINDHAM MOVIE THEATER in Windham, NY which also happens to be the hometown of cartoonist SCOTT ADAMS of DILBERT fame. Windham is a small rural town in upstate New York. The world at large has a mental picture of New York primarily existing only of MANHATTAN but we are dotted with many mountainous country rural towns.
As I think about it my first movie I ever saw with DD was the same as DayDreamer´s wrote "The Man who knew too much". It´s very interesting because that time I did know nothing about DD. I always have loved Jimmy Stewart so I gradually played every of his movies on dvd. And one of them was "The Man who knew too much" So I first saw DD in movie thanks to Jimmy Stewart. It´s very nice coincidence isn´t it?
It was either Pillow Talk or Lover Come Back. I was in my early 20s (I will be 30 in November) and the movie was being shown on one of the cable movie channels. Actually, now that I think of it, it was probably Pillow Talk because my mom ended up buying me the movie for my birthday or Christmas present (my birthday falls around Thanksgiving) or both!
