DD RADIO INTERVIEW WITH BUD CAREY

Unread post by howard »

Here's another great radio interview, this time with dj Bud Carey. The interview is in 7 parts, and I believe the year was 1984. I believe (I hope!) you can also access the other varied interviews DD has done in the past. Enjoy!

Enjoyed hearing that full interview Howard, thanks for sharing.

At first Doris seemed a bit dis-interested but by the end she was having fun,you could tell.

Nice to hear her talk about being able to watch [and it would seem appreciate] films such as Pillow Talk,Thrill of it all and Jumbo.

Also really nice to hear what Rosemary Clooney had to say about Doris as a vocalist and Doris' reciprocation - and so tactful when the interviewer said Rosie was now a little round fat lady - Doris just replied - "well that's fine too..." - [para-phrase] - though as we know, Doris never became a little fat lady- and it stood by her.

Just now finding time to listen to the Bud Carey radio interview. It is wonderful. Really great to hear her perspective on things at that point in time. She was so smart (still is, of course) and direct in all of her responses. You get the clear impression that Doris did not suffer fools gladly and that she was grounded in reality. She comes across as genuine and real which I think served her well in all of her acting roles.

Laugh Out Loud moment: when he said Lullaby Of Broadway was his favorite film of hers and she says (after a pregnant pause)... "You are NOT going to tell me that..." PRICELESS MOMENT. I was on the floor laughing. Doris just comes right out of the gate swinging and doesn't miss a beat with her directness. So refreshing to hear this.

Howard, thank you so much for posting these clips. They really put the starch back into my Sunday.
