Love all the songs from this movie. And I hope Mike won't mind be using his quote about this movie, as it is featured this month on his Forum, as The Movie Of The Month."This was a film version of the popular Broadway Show and co-starred John Raitt and most of the original cast. Considered one of the best transfers of Broadway to film, the soundtrack album reached the Top Ten. it is interesting to note that Doris replaced the Broadway Star, Janis Paige, who had starred with Miss Day in her very first movie and who also appeared with her in "Please Don't Eat the Daisies". The cast delighted in how well Doris adapted to the Broadway role, and the fact that Doris replaced her in the film did not leave Miss Paige with any ill feelings. They remained friends".
Here is the song you like from this movie Howard.
"There Once Was A Man" ♪

One More.
"Hey There" This one is kind of sad, but have to admit it, the gal can sing and act.

Love the banner and the movie. Even remember the scene that is taking place. Larry (The reported that is writing an article for a newspaper about Jane's plight with Harry Malone) Has brought Jane back to her hotel room and has asked her to marry him.
And she is looking up at him and says "But I hardly know you" Great banner Bryan. :)

I thought I'd bring you news of a new play about Doris (we must love her over here, I've lost track of all the shows about her!) This one sounds good:
'Secret Love’ staring Claudia Morris - New Musical Play . . .
Which is set to tour the UK this Autumn, celebrating the life and music of the legendary Doris Day
With a truly extraordinary career that spanned the golden age of Hollywood, glitz and glorious big band music, Doris Day left a legacy that still lives on today. The word ‘legend’ is an overused one in the modern vernacular, but this extraordinary performer truly earned her place in history over the course of a glittering career. But away from the spotlight, Doris Day lived an equally intriguing life, taking in personal tragedy, financial difficulties and the drive to campaign for animal rights long before it was fashionable.

It’s a challenge for any performer, stepping into the shoes of such a celebrated figure, but this autumn acclaimed West End performer Claudia Morris will do just that. Taking her spectacular show around the UK, Claudia will perform classic songs and tell the tale of a woman who has inspired her for many years. Taking in both the highs and lows of a life in the limelight, ‘Secret Love’ is a portrait of a great artist, as told by one of her most dedicated fans, backed by her full live band and two male actors who will play all the key men in Doris’ life. Created with pianist and musical director Malcolm Edmonstone and writer/director Phil Wilmott, it promises to be a knock-out return to the stage for these much loved songs.

In addition, to accompany the show, a collection of the top tracks from the production have also been captured in the studio to be released as an album. The ‘Secret Love’ LP – a further tribute to the life and talent of Doris Day - will be available in September which features Matt Backer on guitar."

I have seen several do shows and try to sing like Doris, but when it is all said and done, no one can begin to hold a candle to her. But it is a great honor for her anyway. Like I have always said "God broke the mold when He made Doris Day and gave her to the world.." ♥ ♥

That's a good way of looking at it, Barbara. My first thought was "She looks nothing like Doris - PLUS she's a brunette!" And then I realised that it's another great tribute to her - from a fan as well as a professional singer. I don't know the story behind it at this stage but if you click to view the whole bookings on her website it's quite impressive, given it's come out of the blue.

It's amazing that she still has so many people who think about her and enjoy her music and films - especially in the UK. I can't think of another star who gets so much interest - perhaps Judy Garland, but it's been a bit quiet on the Judy front recently. I think her CD, "My Heart", has revived a lot of memories and, of course, she still gets new fans as her films are always on TV. I hope she gets to hear about it, I'm sure she'll be thrilled as she's always so grateful for the acknowledgements (being very modest) and it's free publicity for her real love: the animals!

Three cheers for Doris! :)
