Love the latest banner. That is my favourite still from April in Paris - what a body and what great legs...

Bryan - your video sounds great, would be great to see....

Have a great bank holiday weekend for all of you who have it - and a great weekend to the rest.

Even here the weather is fairly good and we have a "Festival of Fools"- a weekend of outdoor [free] theatre and circus acts - am heading into the city in an hour or so for that. Have fun ya all...

I want to give a shout-out to Bryan, Puck, Ania and others who come up with these amazing banners. Your creativity is inspiring. These AIP pics have made want to watch the film again and it was never one of my favorites. I have a bias against Ray Bolger because he overacts to the point of desperation in most of his scenes. No wonder David Butler told him to stop trying to upstage Doris, as if he could.

I really appreciate the comment, Barbara, but I think that I am just making use of the talent on here already. At the end of the day we are all inspired by Doris and express it in our own way way - writing, images, videos, etc.

Or something like that. :)

PS: You could read from that, that I find it hard to accept compliments - although they always encourage you to do better!

Is it, Jas? It's labelled 1957 on the link and on the back of the photo: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... -_1957.JPG

Also here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doris_Day

Maybe you could point that out?

1957 was "Tunnel of Love" wasn't it? Doris looked subtly different that year so you're both probably right.

Bryan - 1957 was Pajama Game/ Teacher's Pet look - Tunnel of Love was early '58 I'd say [when being made]. I am certain the pic is not 1957- pride myself on my Doris Hair/years - lol...!

Yes Jes you are right, if you are going by hair styles, I would have to guess 1954 when "Lucky Me" was made. In fact the picture I painted was grouped along with the other pictures from "Lucky Me"
Here is one from Lucky Me," can kind of see the same hair style.

Great banner, Barbara.

Moving on to the next film:

Image

This is one of the most epic numbers I've ever seen. Doris' amazing lullaby voice is a perfect fit for the beautiful song remade from the 'Gold Diggers of 1935'. It goes straight into a wonderful dance that oozes RKO's Fred Astaire and Ginger Roger's dances. Gene captured Fred's carefree Harlem/ballet style so perfectly it gives me chills everytime I watch it!

Bryan, another great banner for this movie. I absolutely love this movie. Doris was teamed up perfect this time with Gene Nelson, and wow!! they looked like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in that last number. I think it was Gene Nelson's wife came to the set and gave Doris a few tips about dancing up and down those steep stairs in that long gold gown she had to wear for that number, and later said she didn't think she would have been brave enough to do it herself, but Doris being the pro she is pulled it off like a cinch. :D
Also love the opening number Doris did,in her top hat and tails. A Cole Porter number. "Just One Of Those Things"
