I get the TCM movie guide and saw an ad for older issues with Doris on the cover from Jumbo. Does anyone know the month and year Doris was on the cover? Wanna order it on back issues. Might have been April 2012 :?:

Found and ordered the back copy of TCM Now Playing magazine for Star of the month Doris Day for April 2013. Nice picture of Doris from Jumbo on the cover. Also there is a great rare promo that Doris did for TCM last year and she talks about some of her films and that Billy De Wolfe named her Clara Bixey and people still call her that to this day she says. What a gem and exclusive commentary from Doris herself. So glad she actually did it.

It would be great if they showed Rex Reed too- he came out after Doris [who remained] and he and Doris took over- he really complimented her on the book and her career and her talent...etc - he did more to promote her book than either she did herself or Johnny Carson did...! At one stage, Doris and Rex are so engrossed in conversation (it is as if Rex is interviewing her] - that Carson makes a joke about just heading on home...

The actual interview with Carson and Doris - while great to see- and she looks fabulous- is mostly about banned - believe it or not...!

The TCM showing will only be a little over ten minutes with the other interviews airing in the hour slot. But to see how lovely and relaxed she is will be grand.

Ray- I didn't type "banned"- the word I typed has been "banned" - i presume? The word was "po.n" - if you know what I mean - hard core films/ soft core films...!

Great to see the interview again of Doris and Johnny Carson. Doris telling the world she is real and certainly never a prude. 37 years since I saw this the first time and Doris has enjoyed many happy years in retirement which she so richly deserves. Missed the short before that was about The Glass Bottom Boat! Life magazine should do a special feature of our all time favorite Lady.

TCM is really on the ball! Doris says on the Sinatra show she likes The Glass Bottom Boat and low and behold TCM has a Glass Bottom feature before the Carson show. Finally everyone is appreciating Doris as we all have for years.

I loved seeing this again although it was in abbreviated format. Doris seemed to really love her life in the years following the The Doris Day show and that is evident in this appearance. She radiated good health, vitality and a mature sensuality. Damn, what a body. So much fun to watch her banter back and forth with Carson. Writing the book with Hotchner seemed to be both cathartic and liberating for her.

This show had one other affect on me: it made me realize how much I miss Carson. The art of conversation is sorely lacking on most talk shows today. The guests seem to care only about plugging their latest project and the hosts bounce around from topic to topic as if they forgot to take their Adderall.

Looking back on the Carson interview I think Doris had the marriage she always wanted with Marty Melcher. Things went sour but they still loved each other till he died. Doris had it all, a family and career and still delights us today. Her manager Bob seems to be a positive force with her recent projects.

Horray for TCM! TCM keeps Doris going like the ever ready bunny! August 2nd is Doris Day day for summers under the stars. A different star every day in August. The Carson interview will be repeated and thirteen of her movies. Doris is all over the Now Playing guide with a profile shot on the cover with Clark Gable and others. How I loved teacher's Pet. The Glass Bottom Boat, Doris's new favorite later film is showcased on page 36 for TCM greatest classics films collection. So get your popcorn and have a ball
