Doris having to take some piloting tests. She is so frightened of flying and yet she came to London in 1973, her friend must have been very persuasive! (realistic banner by the way)

Final version of this image from Barbara, based on Puck's - she looks a bit like Kim Novak there, I think.

Just wanted to take this time and first thank Bryan for all the hard work he does on this forum, and then just a quick thank you to everyone else, I so enjoy your comments and post with photos.
I wanted to do a little experiment on my Doris Facebook page, so I posted these two photos side my side and asked everyone to tell me which one that liked the best. And over 90% said they liked the one on the left the best, that it looked more like Doris.
Although there were a lot that said the one on the right was really nice, but the one on the left looked more natural and more like her.
But also I thought that in most of her movies, they made her looked really glamorous also. Like "Romance On The High Seas"
"Pillow Talk" "Midnight Lace" etc. So I guess that was what I was trying to do my adding a little more glamour to a few of these photos. Funny everyone has different taste and opinions. That is why I like checking in on the Banners. Bryan always has something different and interesting.

Thanks Barbara. Speaking of glamour, how many 'Goddesses' can you recognise in this artwork by Stephen Whatley, entitled "Hollywood's Silver Screen Goddesses in 1981". Many are identified but a few may be hard to read.

Now Bryan, this is what I mean by you keeping us tune into this banner page, always exciting.
Did you know I had all of these stars named but two, and my computer screen went out, so I wasn't going to start over. I thought I was going to have to borrow your big spy magnifying glass though. Who is the guy flying over?
Maybe a big Hollywood scout? Anyway interesting banner.

Love the Hollywood Screen Goddess banner Bryan! Where did you find it? So cool! Barbara, Iike both of your photos of Doris in the side by side comparison. I also liked your natural enhancement to the photo of DD on her birthday.

Barbara

Thanks Toby, very much appreciated. I have always said DD makes everyone's work look good, she is such a beautiful lady, inside and out. Whether she is all made up to look glamours, or not a stitch of makeup on.
We should be throwing flowers at the feet of this 90 year old icon!!

'The guy flying over' is the artist, I think - he's got the initials, SBW (Stephen B Whatley) on the plane.
