DORIS AND SHIRLEY BASSEY VIDEO ON YOU TUBE

Here's a wonderful tribute video to Doris with "Secret Love" sung beautifully by Shirley Bassey. Here's the link - check it out!

Like Irene Dunne done.

Thanks Howard - That was a nicely done tribute. Do you think in the last set of pictures showing Doris today, that the one in the upper right is her. Doesn't look familar. Just wondering.
Cheers,
Jill

Wow! What a video! So much going on. And Bassey gets it right.

And, Jill, the photo in the upper right-hand corner I think is Patty Page. Could be wrong on that, but it's not Doris.

Looks to be Janis Paige to me, who celebrated her 90th birthday here last year with a short engagement at the now-defunct Rrazz Room (called "Feinstein's at the Nikko" these days).

The cake (that was presented at the show) is there in the photo--see more in googleimages.

The irony in being mis-labeled as "Doris Day" in this 'tribute' to Doris, of course, is that Janis was the star of Romance on the High Seas, with DD as the break-out star, not to mention that Janis was the Broadway star of The Pajama Game with John Raitt, whose name ends in double "t"s (unlike in the 'tribute' YouTube).

The gal who did the YouTube did a great job--but with some unfortunate mistakes. (Adding "Ms."?) Since Shirley Bassey, before she was "Dame", recorded this in the sixties it's only the YouTube, apparently, that is intended as the "tribute"--not the interpretation of the vocal.

Bassey isn't joining the platoons of "tribute" artists. The song had "standard" written all over it, in the best sense of the word as it was used then, from its initial release.

Thanks for sharing Howard, always nice to hear different interpretations of classic songs - I love Shirley Bassey, she is a great talent. She was also an Hon. Member in a DD Fan club I was in = in the 1980s/90s= along with Rosemary Clooney.
