Great news, although I thought I'd seen a USA fan site in the past- about 6/7 years ago?

I think there are "fan sites" at Tumblr and other places, but this new website is ginormous and presents Doris' work from the band days to the present. Fans can interact by listening to Doris' work from her radio shows to movies and TV.

There *was* a fan club back in the 80s, which I helped coordinate with Mike Doyle in Lansing, Michigan. We had our Convention in 1987. You can see the entire thing on You Tube. Doris was there and spoke to us and everyone there had a gift for her, and each fan presented their gift to her right up close and personal.

The name of the club was THE DORIS DAY COLLECTORS. The purpose was to send a newsletter every month so that fans could meet through the mail and could exchange videos, recordings, photos, etc, etc., *through the mail*!!!!! This was before computers. It wasn't kin to The Doris Day Society, but it was a fan club nonetheless. The club began in the early 80s and reached an end after the Convention in '87, but I cannot remember why. Long time ago.

Howard and I were both at the Convention. It was absolutely wonderful and I think Doris was pleased with the gathering. At least she appeared to be.

I was part of the Doris Day Collectors group back in the 80s! I spoke on the phone with a guy from Michigan, a professor I believe whose last name was Doyle I believe. Nice guy, I think one of his favorite films was Ballad of Josie. Oops, just re-read your post Lauren, has his first name Lol. Thanks for the posts and the determination to keep us fans connected Lauren, Mike D and Mike DeVita, Howard, Stephen, Barbara, Anna, and Bryan! All of us appreciate your efforts over the years!

Toby~
I might remember you if I knew your real name. Yes, Mike Doyle was the president of the club. I helped him get started by giving him a long list of fans that I knew and their addresses. Doris was just gorgeous that Day. She went all out for us and each fan went up to her, gave her a gift and could talk to her privately for a couple of minutes and then had their photo taken with her. What a Day!!!

Connie Edney (on the left) stayed at Doris' home to help her. The other woman is friend of mine, Hilda. We were able to go up to Doris up close and personal!!!

Lauren,
It's such fun for those of us who weren't lucky enough to be at that convention to hear your recollections. Thanks for posting pictures and telling the stories.
Have a great weekend,
Jill

We had a long and informative question and answer session with Doris, and she was so generous with her time. It was an amazing DAY!

I agree Puck - you guys who met Doris that day [and other times] were so blessed. Doris just glowed that day in 1987 didn't she?

Yes, we were very fortunate and just think of what could have happened if back then we had Bryan's forum and everyone had some sort of a computer. There would have been hundreds of people there. But, in 1987, computers were not common as yet.

I'm going to try to get the audio from the convention here on Bry's forum. I think I can do it by using the URL icon. The audio from the convention is some of the very best of Doris that I have listened to. She was talkative and gregarious and answered questions about her career in recordings, movies and TV. She talked openly about her life in Carmel and her friends and what she was doing at the time without hesitation.

If I can get the audio up here and after you listen to all 4 parts, you will feel like you where there yourself!!!!
I think she was in exceptional form because the fans were very enthusiastic, attentive to every word she said and respectful. I think she had a wonderful afternoon. I know we did.
