Agree Ray- bad for Doris but thank the Universe [for us] that she did not get to live her "her" dream of retirement [before the age of 20], a long marriage, and lots of children - and no career!

Apart from Terry, her pets and her fans became her children - and she had lots and lots of both, so hopefully that was some compensation.

Yes I hope so Bryan- what a legacy Doris Day has created - in film, music, television and in animal rights.

Mister Ed died at 96!! Rumor has Doris doing a remake. Just horsing around.LOL  For those that don't know, Mister Ed was a TV series about a talking horse with Alan Young who passed on at 96. These performers have great doctors that keep them going for so long.

Tomorrow, June 1, 2016, would have been Marilyn Monroe's 90th. birthday. She is a timeless legend that will live on in our hearts.

A Remake of 'Lover Come Back'?
Is this J.J. Watt's moment of transcendence? Is this when Watt the football player becomes Watt the multitool celebrity?

While music awards shows are often hyped like presidential inaugurations, they rarely provide transitional pivots - if anything, they confirm them. And that's what this will be for Watt, the confirmation he can pivot. And with that, it's time to look forward and forecast H-Town's favorite sports star for his Hollywood transition.

Here are eight roles (only one shown below as it has a special interest for us - Bryan) that Watt's agent should be pushing for right now, and then convince the tackling machine he needs to retire early and move out west to become the next NFL legend turned Hollywood icon.
Image
Kate Hudson and J.J. Watt.

"Lover Come Back"
I'm not sure Watt has the acting chops to star in this remake of the 1961 Doris Day/Rock Hudson comedy, but I'm not sure Hudson did either, and he made it work. Regardless, this is the curve ball in Watt's acting dream board as a womanizing ad salesman who wines and dines prospective clients away from his competitor (Day, in the original). Watt has that slick, devil-may-care charisma needed for the role. But can he wear a suit like a second skin while drinking bourbon like it's water while unwittingly promoting ads for alcohol in a pill form? (How has this movie not been remade? Seriously?) We can only pray he can.

Bonus appeal: Watt could be paired opposite his rumored girlfriend, Kate Hudson, who would actually be kind of awesome as a latter-day Doris.

Can you see it? I must admit that I can't!

But it's already been done and very badly too: "Down With Love" circa 2003 with Renee Zellwegger and Ewan McGregggor. Not again, please.

How can any actors today capture the charismatic chemistry of Doris Day and Rock Hudson in the classic Lover Come Back?

Some classic films need to be appreciated for their unique magic and stand alone as art.
Some examples:
Casablanca with Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart
Gone With The Wind with Vivian Leigh and Clark Gables
Some Like It Hot with Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon
All About Eve with Bette Davis
Love Me or Leave Me with Doris Day and James Cagney

Jackie says in the Closer interview that Doris is a treasure. Comforting her from her divorce in 1977 with Ken Berry and her son's death in January from a brain tumor.

Read Betty White couldn't get her lines in recent tv filming- and it has devastated her that dementia is starting- truly hope this is just rubbish.

Frank Lovejoy was in several early DD movies. The Winning Team, I'll See You In My Dreams and Julie. Was there another with him in it?

I am keen on british murder mysteries and comedies. Absolutly Fabulous is a new fun flick . Joan Collins makes a quick appearance. Would be wild if Doris and Betty White showed up as a comic duo.

Doris continues to bring me joy and happiness today with a world gone mad with terror. This terror must and will end. Listening to Doris sing Periwinkle Blue on facebook and getting a print of a Rainy day in Carmel brings serenity and peace.

Update from Carmel: the Soberanes wild fire has burned 23,500 acres and is only 10% contained as of this morning. It is located north of Big Sur and a few miles south of Carmel Highlands. You can smell smoke from the fire in downtown Carmel and the cars have ashes on them. This varies day to day based on the wind direction. Highway 1 is still open but authorities are discouraging people from taking that route because of all the fire fighting equipment and trucks. No indication of danger for Carmel or Carmel Valley at this point.
