Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Makes me wanna scrambled a few eggs. As Doris told her friends In Julie. When she was staying at her friends apartment. while doing her stewardess work. Remember that line from Julie?
Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016

Yes. well said, Ania. Easter has always been special to me as a young boy growing up in Ireland (like Jas).
I have very strong memories of what it meant to people - rather like in Poland I imagine. Okay we can't prove it's all true, but it's good to hope that it is.

Funny, Ray!
Happy Easter Eggs all!

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
I have been to ireland twice. In 1996 and 2006. If felt strangely homey to me like I had been there before the visits. I could see me living there. Went to London for a weekend. But that was kind of disturbing. Someone in the fog was calling me Mrs Preston!!!
Happy Easter

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
In Poland the whole families gather together to celebrate Easter. On Holy Saturday they prepare special Easter baskets. The baskets contain eggs, bread, meat, salt, horseradish and a figure of lamb made of sugar or cake, which represent the Lamb of God – Jesus Christ. The baskets are decorated with white cloth and box twigs. Once a basket is ready, it is taken to a local church where a priest blesses it with holy water. On Holy Sunday a great Easter breakfast takes place, when family members eat the contents of their baskets and much more.webmaster wrote:Yes. well said Ania. Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Makes me want to Polka!!!
Didn't Doris do a Polka type song
As I get older i get funnier
Maybe its being senile
Oh well I won't remember anyway

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Sounds lovely, Ania - thanks for sharing that.
I've always thought of Ireland and Poland as very old cultures. As a child, my uncle used to pretend to be Dracula to scare us, and my grandfather use to tell stories, such as he was coming home from the pub, he went past a cemetery and someone jumped on his back. He ran home in a panic and as he got to the front door, he was pushed in and saw that the person on his back had hoofs (the Devil)!
I had a lot of nightmares as a child!
Ray, time to take your tablets!

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Hello everyone, and Happy Easter. I have to say Doris is the cutest Easter bunny i have ever seen. I really love Easter. I love all the traditions that surround this holy holiday. This holiday signals the beginning of spring and new life. The colors are so bright and beautiful and it is so fun to see everyone dressed up. The tradition of dying eggs, egg hunts and filled Easter baskets is something i remember from my childhood. But, it is what this holiday represents for Christians all around the world the death and resurrection of God's Son Jesus Christ. I hope that as we celebrate this awesome holiday, may you all feel God's peace and love not just today but each day of the year ahead.

Thanks, Tybear - good to highlight the non-commercial side of the holiday (which comes from the term 'holy day', I think). There was a discussion on TV last night about a DJ's comment that Easter was all about chocolate!
Personally, I go from believing to thinking it's just a comforting fantasy. As I said to someone who left recently, believing in something doesn't make it true. But in my best moments I tend to believe there is a God. I hope so anyway!

Thanks to Puck for her great banners - this is my balck and white version to help us get back to reality!

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Bryan i love the banner of Doris with the Easter basket. She always looked so chic just like she was dressed for a celebration. I understand what youre saying. I think if we try to analyze God in terms of if He is real it can be overwhelming, but when i look around at this beautiful awesome world or see a newborn baby i cant help but know that there is a God who created us and loves us.
I just want to say again Thank You for providing us a place where we can come together to celebrate Doris and share the love we have for her with one another. Youre awesome!

Great Banner, love the green surrounding, and the simply black and white, she always looks amazing, bright and shining.
Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Thanks all - and Tybear, I understand what you are saying and agree. And It's good that we can mention such matters respectfully with one another.
