Wonderful banner, Bryan! As usual you and the other members of this forum are great at finding the perfect pictures to post. And in typical Doris fashion she is elegant and classy. She is such a natural beauty both inside and out. Thank you Bryan.

Thanks, Tybear, Jas, Michael and Dorine - appreciate your comments as always. Glad we were able to look past the fur and see the innocence with which she wore it in that different era when furs were common and just seen as a status symbol.

Can't say I ever wore fur myself! Being a male there were less opportunities but I think there were fur collars for men? Did any of the females among you wear fur? I'm sure you're all too young! :)

Glad you like the PhotoFunia images, Jas, a couple more below:

Love the photo with the fur. That view of it as a status symbol really changed, didn't it? -- thanks in no small part to Doris's commitment to change it. I never wore fur, but I remember the full length mink coat that my grandmother wore in the late 1940s and into the '50s. As to men wearing fur, Bryan, raccoon coats for men were popular in the roaring 20s. Remember the first and last scenes of Tea for Two?

Doris explained the fur issue in the bbc interview from the late 80s with Christopher Fryling- she said that is the one thing that breaks her heart when she looks back at her films and she says the furs are in a box and she won't do anything with them- my Godmother was a very sophisticated London born lady who like Doris by a certain time in her life was an animal advocate and abhorred real fur, yet had them all from another time - which I inherited and always meant to give to a museum with the Dior dress etc. - they were from another time, the minks, the fox furs etc.

Bryan,

That's great news about the Classic Film website.

I am heading out tomorrow on vacation for two weeks and won't finish the Some Like It Hot article until after I return home. But I am 80% done and it shouldn't take me very long to complete it and send it your way.

Looking forward to seeing the new site!

Michael

PS: heading back to Carmel for a week then onto LA to visit Universal Studio and Disneyland.

Lovely LCB banner- they really were a great looking couple- he so dark and she so blond! Agree with the reviewer who compared them to "2 shiny Cadillacs parked in a suggestive position."

I love this LCB banner, Bryan. Doris looks beautiful as usual and Rock is so handsome with the beard. I love this movie ( which im sure does not come as a huge surprise to you). It is comedy at its best with a wonderful cast and great storyline. They really dont make movies like LCB anymore and there certainly arent any modern day actors or actresses that can compare with this lengendary duo. Thank you so much, Bryan!

Yes, you're right, Tybear, they don't (and can't because those days are lost) make movies like this anymore.

Doris and Rock had a lot of fun making these movies and, as they both said, it shows and draws people in, as it did with that other great screen partnership Tracy & Hepburn - trying to think of who else?
