Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
I think Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy were a good duo as well.

Have to really think to remember film romantic duos as entrenched as Doris and Rock [Hepburn and Tracy do come to mind] - as do Myrna Loy and William Powell, and Astaire and Rogers of course.
A great Vanity Fair article a good few years ago now- [Lovers Come Back] - cited Doris and Rock as the best of them all - [over Spencer and Tracey] stating Doris and Rock had kept a more current vibe and did not portray the stiffness of Hepburn and Tracy [to modern audiences].
Others - though not as remembered: -
- Betty Grable and Dan Dailey.
- Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney.
- Rita Hayworth and Glen Ford.

Banner from Puck.

What about Doris Day and Gordon MacRae?

Doris Day and James Garner?

And, to be fair, it should be Doris, Rock and Tony Randall. Wasn't he an essential member of the partnership?

Randall was indeed an essential part of that team. Such a talented man. He got Golden Globe nominations for Pillow Talk and Lover, Come Back -- but, alas, didn't win either time.
Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Bryan-
Much as we fans love Doris and Jimmy G and Doris and Gordon - they are not entrenched in the general public view as screen romantic teams.

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
As usual Bryan-another beautiful banner. I love the dramatic look of this black and white picture. I also love this serious and thoughtful side of Doris. It is definitely opposite of the happy, always smiling Doris that we are used to seeing. She is such a versatile, wonderful actress. Thank you Bryan, you really nailed it with this experimental banner.

Thanks very much - Doris always looks so interesting and, as we know, has a very expressive face so it's fun to experiment sometimes.
We're on more familiar ground below: Doris is about to meet Rock on screen for the first time in "Pillow Talk" - the start of a beautiful friendship that gave a huge boost to both of their careers.
(I changed the German text to English in the title.)

I'm trying to remember when I first saw Pillow Talk. It wasn't in the cinema and I don't think it was on TV. (I distinctly remember seeing "Jumbo" for the first time on TV.) It could have been when I bought the video or DVD. Wish I could remember - can you?

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
I LOVE both of these Pillow Talk banners, Bryan and I LOVE this wonderful movie. Seeing these 2 together makes me both happy and sad. So happy for the beautiful friendship that was formed and sad that they dont make movies like this anymore. I know Doris misses her dear friend but i know she is happy for the wonderful memories of their time together. Thank you Bryan for helping me have a "Doris Day".

Thanks for helping me have a Doris Night, Tybear!
(Nearing midnight in old London Town.)
Yes, I love those films. Remember when Doris was asked by Rock in that short film when he went to see her in Carmel, which one she liked best and Doris said simply, "I like Pillow Talk". She described Send Me No Flowers as 'Rock's film', which I guess it was, in a way.

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Youre welcome Bryan and yes i remember she said without any hesitation that her favorite was Pillow Talk and she said we should make more movies. I wish that they couldve made many more. It mustve been a great feeling to work with someone with whom you feel compatible. I can just imagine how much fun they had making those 3 movies. Im so glad that they had such a wonderful relationship. Doris and Rock continue to make people happy and that is a legacy to be proud of.

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
This Doris\Rock Pillow Talk banner is terrific. Their chemistry in this scene is majic. It is a joyous memory. The icing on the cake was the look on the singer's face when she looked at Rock and sang, "You Lied". Rock's reaction was perfection
Thanks Bryan for the great Day brightener'

Great banner from a great film - my all time favourite film of Doris. There is a great photo of Doris and Rock on the pictures forum that I've never seen before and would make a great banner too - from the Pillow Talk era.
