Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Thanks Johnny, Tybear and Jas - and Puck, of course. That is such a happy, iconic image of Doris isn't it? That was the second film of hers I saw and I thought it was fantastic. She wasn't bad either!
Yes, the forum is also my secret escape - also a place I have to look after - always spammers trying to join or hackers trying to attack. It's well-protected and regularly backed up - but you always have to be on your guard.
Sometimes people get upset and storm off. Sometimes (not very often) when things (or they!) have calmed down, I get in touch and invite them back (if I care enough!
)
Yes we've been through a lot of dramas on here! I'm just so glad it's all calm and relaxed now and I feel very grateful to all of you fellow-travelers on this Doris Day journey. Thank you.

What a joy it is to see this Lover Come Back banner with Doris and Rock in the film's iconic scene. It is priceless.

Great banner - DD looks great in profile.
Again, thanks Bryan for all you do here- it is very much appreciated.
Re- romantic teams- also thought of Irene Dunne [done] and Cary Grant who made many films together in the 30s and 40s including My Favourite Wife- the original Move Over Darling.
I have been watching clips of Irene on Youtube recently and she is up there [with Doris] as an excellent comedienne- as well as singer [though different genre] and serious acting - she was a very talented lady and I have to now view some of her films in full.
She was also nominated 5 times for an Oscar and never won! "Apples and oranges" as Gloria Swanson called the Oscar ceremony- noting it was so subjective and how could someone really objectively pick one performance over another- like picking an orange over an apple.

Thanks Peter.

Like the colours on this - only saw it recently. Had to trim as it was too long to fit.

Thanks Puck - great design, isn't it?
I think the artist has captured Doris better than Rock - but I still like it!

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
This is a really interesting banner Bryan. The vibrant colours of blue, pink, yellow, purple contrasted with elements of white and black is a perfect reflection of Doris' and Rock's dazzling chemistry on screen in Pillow Talk ( and in Lover Come Back and Send Me No Flowers).
Bryan, I think you are correct about Doris' depiction being better than Rock's; Rock's eyes are brighter than the illustration shows.
Thanks Bryan for such a thoughtful banner. This banner has an Andy Warhol feeling. I wonder if Andy ever painted Doris or commented on her.

Thanks Johnny! Agree with all you've said.
I don't think Warhol would have been too interested in Doris, he liked the glamour types like Liz & Marilyn.

Staying with the bright colours:

Let's party like it's 1959!
(The slogans at the top and bottom are the films original taglines.)
The original - hadn't seen this before either:

Love this Pillow Talk poster. It captures the bright and sophisticated look of the 1959 film. The tag lines work perfectly.
It is new to me.
