Thanks for this fantastic Love Me or Leave Me banner. What a powerful performance by Doris holding her own with the great James Cagney! It is a wonderful film experience from beginning to end. I think this is one of the best musical biographies ever filmed.

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
I think so, too, Johnny. It's a film that can be enjoyed over and over again.

I LOVE the Love me or Leave Me Banner.
Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Wow, that is a great banner, and agree with Johnny and Musiclover, this film is one of the best biography musical ever made, and Doris and James were just perfect, you never get tired watching it.
Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Thanks all - her best film, I think. She should, at least, have been nominated for it!
Staying with it a little longer, not sure who shared this image, Peter or Ania:

Another lovely and well done LMOLM banner.
Yes, Doris should have been nominated, though the fact that she was not under contract with MGM probably went against her in this regard as Studios were more inclined to campaign for their stars - this [it is suggested by many] was the reason Barbara Stanwyk never received an Oscar [only the Lifetime one] as she was never affiliated under contract like most stars of that era were (although she was nominated many times) and rightly so - she was a great actress and from all accounts very well respected among her colleagues.

Jas makes a very good point, one that I had not thought of before, and it makes sense because Doris was among the first big stars to become an independent agent when the studio contract system was still viable.
In spite of the Oscar snub, LOLM was a breakthrough film for Doris and it paved the way for her to make the best films of her career. It is also one of the few movies I can watch over and over again without tiring of it.
Great banner, Bryan.

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Producer Joe Pasternak said that he was "stunned" that Doris didn't get an Oscar nomination for LMOLM.
In a book about Academy Award history (can't remember the title or the author), the lack of a nomination for DD for this film and also for TMWKTM was aptly described as "a sin of omission." So true.

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
In the book,Academy Awards, The Complete Unofficial History by Jim Piazza and Gail Kinn, Doris is included in 1955 sins of omission section for Love Me or Leave Me.
I agree Doris should have been nominated for:
The Man Who Knew Too Much - also-
The Pajama Game
Teacher's Pet
Please Don't Eat The Daisies
The Thrill of It All
I think Doris Day is one of the most multi-talented and underappreciated actresses in Hollywood history.

Thank you Bryan for the beautiful LMOLM banner. Doris is absolutely gorgeous and her performance was definitely Oscar worthy as all of Doris's performances even when the role was less than desirable. Doris always gave 110%. She is awesome!

WOW - the colors really pop in this fantastic shot from LMOLM. Even the sparkles in the curtains stand out. Another great banner, Bryan, and this remains one of the best musical numbers ever.

Thanks for this radiant Love Me Or Leave Me banner. Doris looks so sexy and in command.
Doris is surrounded by eighteen dancers. The expressions on the faces of the male dancers are fascinating. Look at the great smile on the face of the fellow at back on the left. He looks like he is in love with her. I think we all know how he feels.

Thank you! I guess we all loved that familiar shot of Doris singing 'Shaking' the Blues Away' from from 'Love Me or Leave Me'. There were several plans to remake it that never came to anything - they must have felt they couldn't match it!
A new one from Puck: Doris in 'Romance on the High Seas' or, as it was called in the UK, 'It's Magic'.

Beautiful banner Puck- Doris looks fabulous here and everything works [for me] - clothes, hair, overall look, what a fabulous debut.
Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2016
Thanks Puck for this radiant Romance On The High Seas banner with the photo of Doris' outfit she wore in her first scene in the film. As I recall in the scene at the travel agency, I thought Doris' beret was red.
Doris.made an unforgettable, funny and vibrant first entrance on film.
Thanks for eliciting this sweet memory.

Thanks all - and especially Puck.
I came across some autographed photos of Doris in an online auction - here's one from 'Young Man With A Horn', which I hadn't seen before:

Thanks Bryan for this interesting banner of Young Man With A Horn. Doris looks timeless in this photo.
The film is interesting as well. It has aged well. My only reservation is Kirk Douglas in the lead role. At times his acting appears over the top or too angst driven. I think Tyrone Power or Gregory Peck would have been more effective.
