What a perfect Doris Day banner for 2016 New Year.
The wonderful feeling about New Year's celebrations is the opportunity to be kinder, more helpful and keep the good cheer going regardless of the tragedies and conflicts that occurs.
There never has been a time on this planet when there was not some kind of conflict happening in this world of ours. People create problems and people have the ability to solve them. Fortunately there are many more people with good intentions that will make this world a better place. We only have to think of the contributions Doris Day has made through her films, music, television show and work with animals to have hope for a brighter year. She has given the world joy. Hopefully, we all can do the same. We all have hope.
With this thought in mind, the eleventh Toronto New Year's Day polar bear swim was held with over five hundred people running into Lake Ontario to raise money for Habitat For Humanity. There were similar swims across Canada from Newfoundland in the East to Vancouver in the West. What a way to start the year! I believe this is an American tradition as well.
Thank you for your positive thoughts, Johnny. It makes a difference.
True, there are more good people than bad people in the world - but somehow the bad people get all the attention and often spoil it for everyone else. But we have to make a stand against those people who want to make this world worse, for whatever reason.
Thank you for the beautiful New Year's banners, Bryan. I agree with you about the people in this world who seek to do harm to us. They do get the media coverage and the good things done receive little or no commendation at all. This is a very sad commentary for our society. I believe thst there is good in everybody sometimes we just have to look real hard to see it.
Im glad that my synopsis about Alabama painted a small picture of of this southern state.
The story you told about your experience of being wrongly accused of being a terrorist is really very sad. No wonder people lose faith and respect for those in authority. Truly sorry that happened to you. Its really sad that people who are on terror watch lists are treated better than innocent citizens. I hope this is a good year for everyone on this wonderful forum. I hope that it is a very prosperous year for Doris and all our four legged friends. I think it is so wonderful that Doris is still making people hapoy all around the world.
Thank you so much for everything you do to keep this forum going.
Tybear, I wasn't really worried by that situation, I knew I hadn't done anything wrong. As for keeping the forum going, it seems to have a life of its own! Held together and determined by fans. I can't always keep up with the different things that go on! Thanks for your contribution.
Thank you Puck and Bryan for this delightful banner. When i have had a less than pleasant day all i have to do is visit the Doris Day Forum and see the awesome pictures and banners that feature Doris and it really brightens an otherwise dull day. You really cant resist smiling when you see that beautiful face and gorgerous smile . Doris really knows how to make people happy.
Wishing everyone a Happy new Year, and thank you all for those lovely words. Still recovering, hope this year will be so much better for every one.
Great banners !!!!!
That reminds me of a dream I had, Johnny, that I mentioned a few years ago and still remember.
In the dream, Doris actually moved in next door - in north London! Next to a house that I used to live in where all the houses had long gardens at the back. It was winter and I went into the garden and saw her through the fence and thought 'Why has she moved to London when California is warm and sunny?' We said hello and she invited me around.
It was quite a long dream but I remember feeling that I mustn't outstay my welcome, but pretty soon she was getting me to help out answering fan mail and other things - I remember typing something. But the feeling of not wanting to bother her won over and I left. No doubt thinking could come back the next day!
I've had others I've forgotten but has anyone else had a dream about Doris that you remember?
I just noticed I put 'Dream a Little Dream of Me' on the banner!
Bryan,
I remember you describing this dream in the past. You are one lucky guy to have such a sweet dream. Just keep on dreaming. It sometimes is the best part of one's day.
I know I have had Doris in my dreams but I can't recall the dream(s).
Perhaps after seeing today's WOW banner of Doris, She may arrive in my dreams soon. It is a sensational picture of her. Doris and Mary Tyler Moore light up the world with their smiles.
I love this beautiful pictue of our Doris, it definitely shows her sunny personality. When i think about every movie or picture of Doris i think about that beautiful, contagious smile. I cant help but smile myself. If people smiled more the world would be a kinder gentler place. We should make a conscious effort to spread love and kindness with a smile for everyone we meet.
I hope everyone had a good week. Thank you Bryan for this wonderful banner. You always know how to brighten our day with the perfect picture of Doris.
