Ha Bryan,

Like the new banner, never thought that a music sheet from 1949 would still be popular by 2016!!!

Thanks for sharing it this way!

I like the pensive look on Doris's face. The black and white photo adds to the interest of what Doris may be thinking. The photo looks like it is from Romance On The High Seas era.

I have always felt that Doris stopped her film career too soon.

Looking at films in 1969-70, I thought these films would have served Doris well.

Cactus Flower -1969 - in the Ingrid Bergman part

Mackenna's Gold with Gregory Peck -1969

Paint Your Wagon with Clint Eastwood -1969

Winning with Paul Newman in the Joanne Woodward part -1969

Darling Lili with Rock Hudon -1970

The Out of Towners with Jack Lemmon -1970

Sometimes A Great Notion - 1970 - with Paul Newman

Paul Newman, Gregory Peck and a re-pairing with Jack Lemmon and Rock Hudson would have given Doris acting partners worthy of her talents.

We will never know if these films would have re-energized Doris' career. These films may have given Doris new opportunities. Without Marty Melcher influencing her film choices, Doris may have found new confidence in the work challenges that would have helped her thrive in the changing seventies.

The Love Me or Leave Me banner is iconic. The shades of blue give a look of sophistication and drama. It brings to mind a similar scene of Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes singing Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend. There is a vivid contrast in colours. Marilyn was dressed in hot pink while Doris is wearing peacock blue. Both scenes are indelible memories.

Sorry Johnny, I'm experimenting with different colours, I overwrote the blue with the current colour before I saw your post. But this is the one you were referring to:

Bryan,

I love the shades of blue in both Love Me or Leave Me banners. There is a dramatic elegance. I prefer these banners to the brighter original on the soundtrack album. Thanks!

Thanks Puck and Bryan for this bright and cheerful Doris banner. It fits in well with this holiday season.

Yes, this photo looks like it is from Lullaby of Broadway; Doris has this hairstyle in this film.

Gene Nelson made four films with Doris. I really like how they look together in their dance numbers. They have good chemistry.
